I have a mustang V head which I use with a Marshall 4x12 for guitar work.

Questions:

Should I use the stereo cable to plug that in? Could I use two of them and do that?

I'm not clear on how the stereo feature is even supposed to work frankly since only one instrument is going in. How does that work with the Fender cabinet?

thanks
Talbot

Make sure your cab is wired in true stereo and that each 1/4" input is 8 ohms when used in a stereo hookup,i thought my line 6 spider cab would work with my mustang v head but it did not,i got a loud rapid popping sound when i first hooked it up to my mustang v head, the line 6 cab is 8 ohms stereo but not wired in true stereo, here is what i had to do to correct my problem:i had to remove the panel with the stereo input jacks from the back of my line 6 4x12 cab and disconnect the 4 wires from the small circuit board with the two 1/4" jacks soldered to it,they are not wired in true stereo!,i tested the connections with my multi-tester and the left and right wire connections all had continuity between them, this is why i had the popping sound from the speakers(i do not know how the line 6 stereo heads are wired to work correctly with this 4x12 cab?),i then put in two new mono 1/4" jacks that i had and wired them in true stereo, line 6 wiring is red +,gray - ,left side rear of cabinet and white+,black-,right side rear of cabinet.

Thanks gentlemen.

I confess I still don't see what I gain with Stereo since only one instrument is going into the system.

I'm probably confused because I owned a Kustom stereo amp back in the day, which would actually split into two amps. Was handy when somebody's rig was in the pawn shop - which happened now and then...

The reality is, you really don't gain anything unless you run a stereo effect in the amp - like the stereo tape delay. Since many of the effects on the Mustang are mono, you just don't get the stunning experience of plugging into an amp like the Roland JC-120 which used a true stereo chorus to split the mono input to drive each power amp.

At this point, you're probably going to have to use a outboard effects processor (say a TC Electronic G-Major) in the stereo effects loop of the amp to get the most from the stereo setup.

I'd love to hear Fender support chime in on this - I may have it totally wrong...
