I just want to share this tip with everyone,i have been playing my new mustang v head through my line 6 spider 4x12 cab and came across a great SRV type blues tone, first if you do not already have a ibanez overdrive pedal(i don't)but instead i have the behringer to800 and to100 tube overdrive pedals both sound good but i like the to800 a little better but anyway i found a good preset to use with my to800 for some good blues type tones,if you have the mustang III-V it is preset 20 bassman clean,i did tweak it a bit,i lowered the gain a little to around 3.6 and had the master volume about 4.5,use a strat or other guitar with single coil pickups in the neck position,i used my squire standard strat and it sounded so good i could not put down my guitar for an hour,i hope others will also like this overdrive blues tone.

What's the difference between that and just using the Mustang overdrive? Put the 4 footswitch in the mode where you can tap the OD on and off. That's what I've been doing using patch 5 (tweaked - I think it had tremolo or something that I took off). I get a nice clean, then click in the OD for the SRV or even harder type sound. That way I don't have to put another pedal in my rig, which is why I think most of us got the Mustang in the first place, right?

The difference is the behringer to800 sounds much better then the overdrive in the mustang v,i know because i compared them and you have to turn the mid's and high's on the mustang overdrive to almost full to even sound close to the behringer to800 and it still does not have that ibanez tube screamer type tone that the behringer to800 or to100 has, these pedals are only about 30.00 new, well worth the money,i also use these overdrive pedals with my other modeling amps and they sound good, try one out for yourself and you will hear the difference and i think you will like it.

I'll give it a shot, although I do like the lack of pedals when using the Mustang IV.

I really do not use any other pedals with my mustang v except the to800 but i place the pedal on top of my mustang v head with a short guitar cable(about 1-1/2') going to the amp's input rather then having a long cable going to the floor if i put the pedal there, you can also hook up the overdrive pedal much faster when it is placed on top of your head because you can always leave it there, that's what i do so it is not really that much of a hassle to hook up.

I just picked up a Mustang III a few weeks ago and haven't even thought of running any of my pedals through it. I'm going to give my TS808 a test and see how it sounds. I'll use the settings you recommended. I have 2 Squier Strats, a Standard with Fralin Blues Specials, and a CV 50's. I'll give an update later. THX for the heads-up.. 8)

You may have to tweak your settings a little different from my suggested settings because i run my mustang v head through my line 6 spider 4x12 cab wich has custom celestions and i'am sure it will sound different from your mustang III.i was playing my mustang v today and i again tweaked the bassman clean preset with the gain set higher to a 5.2 and i lowered the master volume to 4 and i like it a little better then the original gain i had set at 3.6,i saved the preset with my higher gain setting,i'am just starting to tweak many of the presets in this amp and when i find some more good ones i will post them.
