Hi guys! I have a problem with my mustang-1 and I need all your help; I m getting an excessive buzzing sound when not striking the strings or touching the bridge. The volume of this buzzing is changing when I m moving my guitar so its very annoying especially when playing clean tones.(its like im moving an antenna but still no picture; some if I rotate the guitar s volume or tone its like im trying to receive some radio…)
. Firstly I was thinking it s my telecaster and it s time to do some shielding work on it, but 2or 3 days later I connected my amp to pc using the standard usb cable that was delivered with my mustang and guess what? As soon as I plug the usb in my amp, the noise goes away and the playing becomes great. Now im not sure what it may be the problem because as soon as I unplug the usb, the noise becames louder and with a lot of buzzing …
I was thinking at a grounding problem, but both the pc and the mustang are using the same outlet…
And even if I unplug the pc from outlet the guitar works fine but as soon as I unplug the usb cable between amp and pc, this annoying noise start killing all the pleasure.

I really need to know your opinion and maybe some solution to kill that frustrating noise …

thank you!

Sounds to me like your guitar's bridge isn't grounded properly. But, I could be wrong. It's hard to say without actually holding the thing in my hands and being able to use a multimeter on it.

It does sound like a grounding problem...and somehow connecting the USB cable provides the necessary grounding, regardless that both are plugged into the same outlet.

Do you have any flourescent lights around, or the compact flourescent lights (CFLs)? If so, try turning them off and seeing if that makes a difference.

My guitars all buzz a bit, even those with humbuckers, though obviously not as bad as my single-coils do. But I think in part it's the wiring in the house...it's an older house and when we bought it, most of the outlets were the two-prong kind. I've since upgraded to the three-prong, but could only ground each receptacle to the box...so it's not a very high quality ground.
