The amount of Reverb needed is dependant of the physics of the particular venue.

Yet, too much or too little reverb can be a sonic killer.

Since it's highly inconvenient to adjust 100 presets for whatever the venue is at the moment, I suggest the following:

Design the Reverb knob & circuitry so that it functions as an universal over-ride/adjustment for all presets. It could work were it was labeled -5 to +5. The 0 setting would means that there was no change to the amount of reverb as set in the preset.

When the knob was turned from 0 thru -5, the level of reverb would be reduced proportionally on all presets, when turned from 0 thru +5, the reverb level would be turned up for all presets.

This would give the performer the ability to make a single, non-permanent Reverb Level adjust that suited the particular venue.

A global reverb setting could be added with firmware.

Yes, yes it could but then you would have to lug around a computer to do your setup.

While we're talking future products, how 'bout this one... the Fender Phone.

According to this link, it is possible to hack a USB port on to a cell phone. But, what if Fender had a cell phone manufactured from jump to include one and not only that, it would have a FUSE app built-in for connecting to their amps as well as interfacing with with a computer running FUSE on it.

Lots of possibilities there IMO.

Would you buy one?

I can pretty much guarantee I would.

On the III and higher you have an LCD display, so it can be accessible from the menus. On the 1 and II it would require more thought. Maybe with an extra click or two you add it as another overloaded button/dial functionality.

I don't think you need to modify hardware for that. Phones nowadays connect by USB anyway, so I think it's mainly a question of software. I saw something about connecting USB mice/keyboard to a Nokia N8.

What would be nicer, but will require hardware, is Bluetooth connectivity. Some people here had problems with the USB port. Bluetooth will solve these reliability issues, and would work better with phones. :)

Why would you need a phone to talk with the PC software?

Not me. It makes more sense as a free software, like on the PC.

Well, here's the thing, Bluetooth would be fine but not backward compatible to existing amps. If you could just take your phone from your pocket and connect a USB cable to the amp, you could make the reverb adjustment that Richard001 wanted as well as set the room EQ (as people have done through the FX send/rcv) for the venue your doing.

Connecting to the PC would allow you to load bulk preset dumps (backup/restore) from the computer so that different preset libraries could be instantly available.

Since these "backups" ( that are already in place) also have foot switch and FX setups in them, you could change those settings on the fly in between songs with ease.

That all this could be done with the existing amps, makes a lot of sense to me but I guess I'm alone in my thinking.
