I just bought this amp yesturday and only stopped playing it to write this! lol i can really dial in the sounds i want and it sounds great loud, i was thinking about replacing the speaker but i am gonna keep messing with it like it is right out of the box. I usually play clean to a little bit dirty, so dialing in a 65 twin or the Dual champs to get a nice distorted sound is easy! i might do a youtube video soon and if i change the speaker out i will let you know if it was worth it? To any one who was thinking about getting this amp and hasnt, go get it now you wont be dissapointed!

There has been a lot of discussion on changing speakers and a few ab examples on this forum. the eminence tonkerlite seems to be the winner so far. Be careful so you don't void the warranty. I think the more you play itthe better it will sound

I love my Tang III. It sounds great. Every time I play it I get a little better sound out of it. I had the Tang IV and traded down to a III. The IV was too much for my application.

Keep Jammin ! Enjoy Life !

Me too... I'm still experimenting with settings (mostly going for simple clean tones) I feel like I'm getting close to the "perfect" (for me) 65 Deluxe tone...I changed the cabinet and sag and IMO it sounds great. I don't have a DRRI to A/B it with but it sounds nice.

I've had my III for about 3 weeks now and still love it... the fizzy thing everyone talks about is kind of a bummer but I'm trying to remind myself that this is a $300 amp... and that it may behave like one at times. It's not going to behave or sound like my TRRI...but it's still a great amp. I have an older mac and can't run FUSE to update firmware so am just making due... waiting for the speaker to break in a bit and what-have-you. Maybe I can update it eventually but am happy with it for now. I traded in a Frontman 65 for the Mustang and so having even a few useable tones and an EQ that responds normally (and a reverb that works, and... and...) is a vast improvement. The Frontman series should be wearing the Squire badge unless Fender is willing to improve them. They're junk, which is too bad... Fender used to make some decent solid state amps back in the day.

Anyhow...glad you're enjoying the III. It's a fun amp and I'd still recommend it to anyone who's on the Fence...chances are you'll really enjoy it, especially if you keep in mind what it is... a $300 modeling amp, not a $1500 tube amp. Cheers

OK. not everyone :)

I've found that some tweaks to the settings remove most of it... and perhaps the updated firmware helps too but I can't update mine because of an older computer. In any case, it's still a great amp and I find myself practicing at home with it more often than my TRRI so that says something about how good it sounds.

I'm looking forward to my 4 button foot switch arriving... should be fun to explore all of the new options.

That fizzy thing, that I never have heard, is fixed with the latest firmware version.

I would hold of on changing the speaker until you have about 100 hours of play time on it. This doesn't apply to just guitar amp speakers but all speakers. The "surround" material on the outside of the speaker needs time to break in, just like a leather baseball glove, its one of those things that gets better over time. But don't play it cranked loud hoping it will break in faster, because it will just break. The speaker is a Celestion G12T-100 so its a pretty good speaker to meet in the middle with, which is what this amp does, Heck Yngwie Malmsteen uses the G12T-75 same speaker less wattage. It could be muddier or it could be clearer. If you look at the presets though, to me it looks like Fender wanted to make a well rounded amp to suit all style well and not just one style perfectly.

As for Fizz, I can turn my Mustang III to about 5-6 before I will hear an ambient fizz coming through the amp, I assumed this was natural as the tube amps the Mustang III is mimicking will do the same when turned up. When I plug a low quality patch cable into the Mustang III I do get a RETARDED amount of hum though, this is easily fixed with a better patch cable. Other then that I don't get that much noise though it I don't want, even the dreaded 60Hz hum doesn't really come through and I have 5 fluorescent lights in the same room as my amp.

I haven't any fizz from mine. The only odd sounds are when I'm connected to FUSE and the laptop is close to the amp when I'm playing my guitar whilst sitting on the couch and the amp close by. Thats all, no big deal. Other than that sounds super sweet.
