I read all of the posts. All I can say is, geeez, you humans sure are funny!
Isn't one of the main reasons to buy a Mustang to not add pedals?

In FUSE (it's really a must for Mustang owners) I'll either use the Greenbox, Overdrive or one of the compressors (at minimal settings) in front of the pre-amp, and then add a touch of Delay and 'Verb between the pre-amp and power amp.

So instead of your chain being:

Guitar> a Schmillon pedals> Efx loop out> a Blillion more pedals> Efx loop in,

It's just:
Guitar> Amp.

Spend more time playing (practicing?) your guitar instead of playing with additives. You'll definitely get better A LOT faster.

I know, it's fun as hell to play with guitar additives- I used to be somewhat addicted. :)

Well not really... here's why.

1. I bought the Mustang for the Amp modeling. The rest is gravy.
2. I like the overdrives on it but don't care for the Fuzz stomps so looking for a fuzz box that goes well with it to scratch that itch.
3. Biggest reason for me is the Mustang II only allows you two switch between two presets so to get the most out of those two presets, external pedals work wonders.
4. If you like some pedals that the mustang does NOT have built in and the amp takes pedals, why the heck not.

Not sure how the mustang amps work, but the floor model only gives you ONE instance of a drive pedal, plus you have to choose between either a drive or compressor... so if you want both a drive AND compressor, you must use an outboard pedal.

I get better results with an overdrive between the guitar and amp rather than using the virtual overdrive in Fuse. On my Mustang 1 V2 with the 65 DLX model and the gain at max, it's still just starting to break up. But when I use a pedal between my Strat and Mustang 1 V2, when I find the sweet spot on the pedal, it then pushes the front end of the amp in the same way as a real tube amp, and I get that fat, juicy, yet still kind of clean and spanky tone and touch response that you get from a great tube amp, where I feel like I'm playing the amp as much as the guitar. Quite magical!
