Inevitably peeps will mod their Mustangs, so can post that stuff here.
I added an extension speaker jack to my Mustg-I which cuts the internal speaker so I can power my 1x12 or my 2x12, or my bass amp speaker if I dang please :!:
Was it easy? Fairly, but took a bit of process. Yes I know this flounders the warranty.

I've done stuff like that before, and have considered it on the Mustang I, as I'd love to be able to hook it up to my other cabs. But I've typically done it in a way that wasn't permanent that could be undone with no trace! Doesn't look nearly so nice as this, but it has it's advantages!!

But I've never done one that automatically cuts the internal speaker...I'm assuming you just need to get the right kind of jack...is that correct?

Anyway, very cool...enjoy!!!

Did the back panel come off fairly easily? I tried popping the back panel off of mine, but it didn't readily come loose and I didn't want to force it. I'd like to do just this myself, however, and if I'm just being overly cautious with it, then I'll dig in :D

It's just a little sticky from the adhesive they use with the tolex. I used a thin metal pocket clip off my percision ruler.

Disconnect your onboard speaker wires and run the wires to the jack in this fashion.. Green-tab is your ground from the amp AND run a new wire from the same tab back to the speaker (negative) onboard. Hot (from the PowerTransformer/Mustang's Circuitboard) goes to the lug for the longer tip then the inside shorter tip's lug (silver) gets a new wire going back to the speaker (positive). It's called a mono normally-closed jack you can get them at Radio Shack in their bins.
