I just traded my 1977 vintage Ampeg VT22 in for the Mustang III.
It is being shipped this week from Guitar Center and I can't wait for it to arrive!
I was very impressed at the great variety of models
Reading this forum I am already impressed at the responsive team from Fender and knowledgable users on the board. It will be a pleasure sharing ideas and info with you all.

I have been a player for 37 years and have owned Silvertone, Ampeg and Crate amps, various stomp boxes and pedals, and also use an RP2000 effects board (which is probably destined for Ebay as soon as I learn the ropes on the 'stang)

I am fairly well versed in electronics, having been a Ham Radio Operator for 38 years, and am familiar with prnciples and threory behind Digital Signal Processing, etc. but am not an expert in tube type guitar amps.

So here are a few questions for you experts:

1) What will be the capability for adding additional stomp boxes and other effect? (I know this may be limited to available processing memory and storage memory.)

2) similar.... what are the expectations for adding additional amp models? If there is enough memory, the sky's the limit?

3) Can someone point me to a basic explaination of tube SAG and bias and how it applies to guitar amps? i.e. what affect will adjustments to these parameters have on the sound of any particular amp model? ( I think I have a grasp of it, just need an experienced person to walk me through it.)

Thanks in advance. I am looking for some interesting reading while I wait for my new amp!

I found a good explanation of Sag and Bias. Pretty much what I thought.
Can't wait to play with those controls. Should be awesome.

And the amazing thing is they do as they do with a tube amp. I bias my own and the bias in the Mustang acts like biasing a tube amp. Except of course the good thing, you can run it hot and not burn up any tubes!!

Was playing a 65 Deluxe tonight with my Tele.........the tones are just amazing.

The main reason I don't think Fender will add features is that it doesn't make a lot of business sense. Fixing problems, yes. Small tweaks, perhaps. But new features, not very likely. It would be more likely if the market standard was competing on extra post-release features, which isn't the case, at least not on modeing amps.

But who knows, maybe it'll get minor upgrades as stopgap once the competition releases new products, or as bonus to make customers happy in preparation for a next generation Fender amp.

I'm not sure about how expandable the Mustang line is, but I see a lot of opportunity for Fender to make this into a full blown *software* expandable platform in the future. I can see software releases for individual effects and amps ( who wouldn't buy a '74 Script Phase 90 add-on?) that can be purchases individually - just like you would do with a *hardware* rig. It the only business model that really makes any sense to me...

to be able to chain two echo effects ,even at the cost of losing the reverb post echo, would bring the amps into line with Zoom which seems to have the "Shadows" 60's Meazzi sound replication pretty-well cornered. That's on my wishlist to Fender.
Cheers all
