I finally got my Mustang V head yesterday and paired it up with a custom 2x12 cab I had built for it. It sounds amazing with the Eminence Governor and Cannis Rex I put in there, but I'm a bit puzzled by the effects. The stereo tape delays sounds sweet with this rig, but it seems to be the only true "stereo" effect. All the mod effects (chorus, tremolo, vibratone, etc.) sound the same on the V head as they do on my Mustang III (mono).

Can anyone confirm this?

Hey that's the exact question I want answered before I order..... If the onboard effects aren't stereo, is this something you can add with the software? Stereo chorus, univibe, tremelos .... that's what I want.

The effects that go in front of the amp : Compression, wahs etc. are MONO

Some of the effects that go after the preamp are stereo - namely:
Stereo Echo
Ping Pong -buy setting the delay time between L/R delay
Tape Delay - by setting the "stereo" knob L/R
Stereo Tape Delay - by setting the "separation" knob.
The chorus, flange, vibratone efx have a L/R knob which will create an "out-of-phase signal which can act like a stereo effect to some degree but it is really just fattening up the sound - you won't hear true separation of the signals - just a "bigger" sound.

Of course anything that says"Stereo" i.e. Stereo Chorus in the name is stereo.

If you are not hearing any difference in the stereo effects, try listening with a set of headphones. If you hear it in the headphones than your cabinet speakers may be "out-of-Phase". Try reversing one set of leads to one of the speakers and see if that helps.

Bo

As a side note: I am using a TC Electrics G-Major in the stereo effects In/OUT and everything is serial up to the Delay and the Reverb which are both parallel (Stereo) outs. To me, that just cleans up the signal and the delays don't get lost in the reverb splash.

I got my Mustang V head this weekend and it sounds GREAT with my 2x12 cab with Emi Tonkers.

I emailed Fender tech support about the stereo issue. The responses I got were:
"Basically, all the effects that are in the “post” position (rack effects) are stereo with the exception of the mono delay. And all the effects in the “pre” position (stomp boxes) are mono. This is true for all the Fender Mustang amps. I hope this helps."

and

"So, all effect types are available in either the pre or post position. If you click in an empty location in the pre and post sections, you will see that the same effect types are selectable in both areas. I hope that clarifies things a bit. Thanks."

This actually clarifies things a lot - it makes perfect sense. Thanks for posting this my friend :)
