First all, hello everyone...

So I bought Mustang I on Thursday this week. I had originally bought Vox Mini 3 for very low volume practicing (apartment, small kids, etc.). I returned that after I discovered while it had some great all around tones, it also had a fairly loud base white noise level that was always present. Quite annoying at low volumes.

So I went back to the store and traded it for Mustang I, with a lot more features only at 16€ more. It did sound pretty good at the store, so I thought why not.

...and now after two days, I'm ready to kick my tube amps out of the window (not literally). I hand built those amps from scratch, and have spent 5 years tweaking them and studying guitar tube amp construction. They do sound excellent to me, but as you all know, it just doesn't sound that excellent at bedroom volumes plus they are rather feature poor when compared to modern digital amps...

But it seems Mustang I and a MXR 10 band EQ is just about all I need for my amplification purposes. It sounds so good, I am still wondering it constantly. Plus I'm pretty much also loving the FUSE software as the amp sits all the time next to my computer anyway.

My only gripe is the preset bank led coloring... I'm color blind so I can't tell the difference between the three preset banks just by looking at the led :)

Hello to you as well . . .

Congratulations on you Mustang I - I think for what you're using it for (apartment) it is truly one the the best value for the dollar (or Euro) that you can get. Fender has done something no one else has been able to do IMHO - and that's give you a great sense of string dynamics when you play at at any volume.

Building amps - impressive - will the Mustang (pick a Roman Numeral) end your gas and love for valves - no, but it's a great tool.

Never thought about the color blindness aspect for the selectors - that's a bummer - but since you can use FUSE to create your own - you'll just have to set yours up so you know where you are (within reason I suppose).

If you don't mind the extra €€, and have the space, the Mustang III (or IV or V) doesn't rely on colored controls on the amp (although the 4 button foot switch does).

PITA

Bummer on the LEDs!

But I agree, I just got a Mustang I, too. And while it will never replace my tube amp, for a practice/headphone amp, I think it's going to be great!!

I did seriously consider Mustang III, but settled to keep the Mustang I. The led color issue is not that bad, as I will probably pretty much stick with creating some usable tones on a single bank anyway. And like already mentioned, it's not even an issue if you use the FUSE software to edit the presets.

I picked up one of these amps on Saturday and have to say I'm quite impressed as well. I spent a number of years playing in cover bands but haven't played for a few years now. Since my amps are both vintage and large, I opted for a practice sized amp for around the house which the Mustang 1 seemed to be. Since I've owned and/or played through twins, bassmen, vox, etc. over the years, I got quite a chuckle out of how well they were able to match those sounds. Nice array of effects built in as well. The tuner was a nice touch since mine is apparently buried in one of my equipment boxes (somewhere?). Overall I'm quite pleased.
