I think I remember someone suggesting this in a previous thread a while ago, and I doubt Fender hadn't already thought of this anyway, but how about a pedal version of the Mustang I/II? I run out of the headphone jack of my MI into my Twin Reverb (before my son goes to bed, at which time the Twin goes to sleep as well), and it sounds great to me. The pedal could have all the functionality of the current amp, just in a smaller package with no speaker. It still would connect to FUSE; the main out would be 1/4" (but keep the headphone out as well); the tone controls could be kept or ditched; and maybe a second footswitch would cycle through the presets, or just keep the current knob. And this is probably obvious, but the controls would need to be a bit more robust (I don't think the pots used in my MI would last very long on a pedal used on the floor). It could even still be $99. I know this sort of thing already exists, but I'm not into Line 6, and I don't want an expensive rackmount unit (and I'm guessing that new Kemper Profiling Amp won't be cheap either).

Throw in an expression peddle, and a couple of stomp switches, and you would have a tight little package.

Sounds like its been done many times before, line6, zoom, Digitech, etc etc.
But the real kicker, would be the FUSE software.

Give us a nice effects pedal that talks to FUSE, and they would undersell a lot of their modeling amps. From lurking these forums, I see a lot of people who have several other pieces of hardware already, why would they have boughten a new amp, when a multiFX pedal would have given them the same benefits, just plugged into their known and trusted speakers.

That also being said, Fender seems to be really trying hard to get around the stigma of a "Solid State" amp, and marketing these to a "more" audiophile type audience than a SS amp would usually hit. This is a little easier without giving the same thing in a little metal box with a circuit board and jack.

That would be kind of cool. I just wish they had put an external speaker jack on them...the MIII and MIV with the Celestion speakers sound so much better, but I didn't want a larger amp. If I could hook this thing up to my other cabs, that would have been great!

I know, every little thing pushes the price up, so they have to draw the line somewhere!!

I suppose I can add one myself............5 years down the road when the warranty expires!!!

You mean something like the Korg PX4D? It's models lots of vintage amps and has tons of effects. I would have gone for that device but I wanted a speaker too even though I mostly use headphones. So for me, the Mustang was cheaper and it included a speaker.

Looks like they actually did it--apparently it will be introduced at Winter NAMM:

$300 though? I hope that's wrong.

That price is not at all out of line when you compare it to similar products from Line6 and Boss. Because it's a pedalboard, it'll likely have other capabilities not available on the amps. A pedalboard with the Mustang's tones? I would gladly trade in my GT-8 for that... in a heartbeat!
