On the G-DEC there is a separate knob for the "band level " volume. Where is the "band level volume" adjustment (from the FUSE screen) ? Is there a way to adjust the backing band volume on the Mustang I and II amps ? How ? :?:

Thanks :)

The band tracks with Mustang don't play back through the amp itself, although you can load and stop and start them through FUSE.

They use your computers sound system - either an internal sound card or an external audio interface. To play them louder you need to increase the volume via the computer, and you will hear the sound not through the amp but through your computer's speakers.

Should have added that you can in fact load and play Mustang band tracks on the computer via any computer based music playing programme, including Windows Media Player, without having the Mustang amp connected to the computer, since they are basically just ordinary wave files or MP3s.

Of course, accessing and playing them via FUSE with the amp connected to the computer via USB does have the advantage of allowing you to use the FUSE library functions to organise your band tracks - and to do a bit of tone tweaking at the same time !

Hmmmm

I happened to be looking at a Mustang preset file in a text editor today and noticed something curious. Checkout this morsel of XML:
Code:
  <Band Type="0" Repeat="0">
    <SongFile Location="6">No Band</SongFile>
    <AudioMix>0</AudioMix>
    <Balance>29127</Balance>
    <Speed>100</Speed>
    <Pitch>0</Pitch>
    <Tempo />
    <Transpose />
    <DrumSolo />
    <CountIn />
  </Band>

Judging from that, it would appear that the people involved in developing FUSE for the Mustang have already thought of providing a volume control and much more in some future version. Now this is not to say that this is proof that these features will come about, but it is an indication that are going to at least try to implement them IMO.

What do you think?

I'm sure there are all kinds of 'redundancies' built into the coding of these presets, especially if they are derived/modified from the GDEC original code. Some may indicate provision for future ideas, and some are probably just left overs from other versions.

Certainly being able to control the band track playback volume for Mustangs via FUSE itself would be handy, without having to go outside FUSE to a separate programme in Windows to do that - it means basically adding more comprehensive music player functions to FUSE for Mustangs but it wouldn't seem that hard to do, given that there are already start and stop functions for band tracks available within the programme.

Well, when you save a Mustang preset on your PC, you're allowed to associate a band track with it--I'm guessing that's what this XML element is supposed to represent, and further agree with depepat that the extra attributes likely originated with the G-DEC which can really use them all.

PITA

Well the redundant G-DEC info is a definite possibility - hadn't thought of that.

I guess I'll just keep using "BestPractice" (tho it hasn't been worked on in 3 years). It does do a few of those things such as loop, pitch, speed and volume adjust. It would be nice to have something like it in FUSE, but...

If anyone else is interested, the program is open source freeware. Here's the link: http://www.xs4all.nl/~mp2004/bp/

I don't know how it would work on other Windows versions but I have had no issues on Win XP Pro.
