I recorded the rhythm guitar tracks with my Cyber-Twin and '66 Jazzmaster into a BOSS BR-800. I recorded the bass guitar using my Squier P-Bas D/I into the BR-800, the drums were arranged using the BR-800 by me.

The lead guitar was recorded using my '98 AmStd Strat into the Mustang I with the Steve Vai preset D/I into the BOSS BR-800...http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=10381510.

Nice playing. :)

The lead may be a tad hot; the backing rhythm was a bit drowned out but good sound overall.

Thanks, I'm in the mist of moving and mixed it first using a pair of Swan S-1 speakers, instead of either my Samson RESOLV-40a or my Roland DS-50s. The Swans really accented the bass, which made me compensate with bring up the lead guitar in the mix.

How did you get the preset to work on the Mustang? I downloaded them and the amp didn't recognize them. When I looked at them, they had the filename started with GD instead of MU like all the Mustang presets.

You used FUSE to download the preset to the FUSE folder, right? If so, you have to connect the Mustang to the computer via USB, than under 'Media Library' select Computer. The Vai preset should show in the info screen, than select 'Load', the prest should load to the amp.

If you want to save the preset to the amp, than chose one the open 'slots' and save to the amp.

Hey Tony,

Are you referring to the "Steve Vai For the Love of God" Mustang preset?

Yeah, there is a Steve Vai preset that a user put together that would work, but the only presets by Mr. Vai himself are all for the G-DEC and my amp won't recognize them. If, on the FUSE website you select MUSTANG from the dropdown box, none of Mr. Vai's presets come up, only if you select G-DEC.
