I guess my IV is going back. After four gigs, I can't get it to stop fizzing and farting all over itself. It's quite embarrassing being around other pros with real amps. Even the sound guys gave me a thumbs down. I'm not sure if the beta software didn't actually make it worse. Have you guys ever played one of these things with the master set above 5? Sounds like a Foldgers Coffee can full of bees.

I REALLY wanted this to work. All I can say is, nice try. I'm so dissapointed right now, I'm dusting off my old rig ('93 Blues Deville) for tonight's show, and calling for an RA number.

Apparently you did not follow the disclaimer that came with the beta firmware release. It indicates that the beta is not to be used in "performance critical situations."
Mustangs are like computer operating systems (windows xp, vista or 7) that need updating to fix newly discovered flaws: patches. If you want a simple amp get a deluxe reverb or a twin. Of course you will have to fix the tube amp flaws: tube replacement on occasion. Good luck.

I REALLY tried. Look at my review, ONLY ONE http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/prod ... sku=H70087

I guess it's love/hate. Right now I really hate it.

I don't so much buy the love/hate thing, I think either it's broken or you're over-reacting.

The Mustang's speaker took a while to break in for me, it was a fizzy mess at first, now it's pretty nice. Still lacks some low end on some models though.

Hi Gridley,

I'm sorry you're having such an issue with your amp. Did you notice any improvement/difference at all with the new firmware? It appears that it has resolved the fizziness issue for most. If you don't notice a difference then we may be looking at a bigger issue with your amp.

Yeah, I'd take it back and get a new one and try it at about 5 and see what that one sounds like. Interesting though, since I just got mine

All 6 reviews are positive ... It's just you "might have" got a bad Amp, bring it back, exchange for another--or bring ur guitar with you and try out another to make sure it isn't the guitar...some people say these Amps work best with single coil strat-like guitars...could just be the guitar or pickups. I use a MII and it sounds perfect with the Master at 7, so its probably the Amp.

One word....TONKERLITE!

I just switched out my Mustang III's Celestion G12T-112 with an Eminence Tonkerlite and it made all the difference in the world. ALL (and I mean all) of the fizziness is gone and so is the farting out. The notes are crisp, clean, loud and tight. NOW this thing sounds like an amp instead of a stereo speaker! Do it man, you won't regret it.

I would get a different one , but if you go in and "mellow" out ALL the settings , it sounds better at high volume.

adding the simple compressor on low , makes the high gain settings work .

putting a EQ (analog) pedal in the effects loop makes it easy to "tune " it to the room.

this sounds wierd but go behind your amp and listen to the sound.I love it that way for LOUD stuff.
At high volume I point the amp at me and mic the back and use it backwards for stage volume.
OK thats stange but it's not a tube amp . but it has great fender tones.

Van Halen used to point his Marshall at the wall in small clubs and I heard a Marshall with a plastic screen in front of it and the sound was great. anything goes ....

I let my students use my tube amp for lessons and I use the Mustang...mine cuts thru better.
It's a NEW THING...new rules apply....
(also put your tone control on your guitar at 5...)

at 100 watts it's made to be used...Fender set it up to impress the kids at Guitar Center.
now we have to make it better. it's easy. just pretend it's a large pedal board.

Fender has a great 5 yr warranty. They replaced my amp with no problem.
