I like the idea of a combo, but I also have a pair of electro voice evm-12l, I could build a cab for. there 8ohm speakers, but I would have to find out how to wire them for stereo. At 499. for the lv . it would be cheaper to just get the head, if those speakers would work .
any thoughts ?

Factor in the cost of a good cabinet. At 150 watts all together, its 1" or better plywood - not the cheap wall board, or it rattles and buzzes.
Those EVM-12l's, at 200 watts rating, are great speakers but need a good solid cabinet to sound best. Even an inexpensive box kit (no covering or grill ) will set you back a couple of bills. Check out Parts Express. They have corners, and grill cloth, and tolex, and other hardware because you'll need handles and casters and such to get it around.
Fender still makes their classic double 12 cabinet for the Bandmaster, that's about what you'll need for the EVM-12l's in size and sturdiness.

As for Stereo wiring - I favor the KISS design. Install 2 jackplates and wire each speaker to its own connection - one left, one right. Then you run the 2 speaker cables to the proper speaker - no muss, no fuss.

The stereo wiring part is as easy as can be as saransk says. Wire from on jack to one speaker and from another jack to the other speaker. You can actually buy unloaded cabs. You can buy unloaded cabs from companies like Avatar (avatarspeakers.com). You can often find them as well as unloaded cabs from other brands on ebay for killer prices. I've seen unloaded Avatar cabs going on ebay for like $100 and they're directly from Avatar, I think they sell them that way on ebay to clear out their inventory. The speakers you've got would be perfect for that amp head, they handle plenty of power and they're 8 ohm speakers so they'd pull the full 150 watts of power out of that head.

I bought the V head and a 2x12 cab of a different brand and paid about $30 more than I would have paid for the IV just for the versatility of having a head and cab combo. If I want to record some ideas I don't have to pull out a big bulky combo amp, I just grab my head and bring it in and set it by my computer and record direct. Having a head and cab also means you can expand in the future, or swap out either part, and that you can select the speakers/cab that you like rather than having the ones stuck to your amp. In my opinion head and cab setups are worth a little extra cash for the versatility, and where you've already got speakers there's a good chance you could end up paying less if you're a good shopper.
