Not sure about distortion, the British 70 is pretty close to a JCM 45 sound. The effects pedals include the usual Tube Screamer, Fuzz-Face, etc. I set the British 70 at a front end gain of about 4, and then with the advance controls do the usual channel blend, bias, etc. that you would have had to do on a real plexi - without master volume. It is very responsive to the guitar and I can use the volume control on the gutar to dial in the sound without loosing too much volume overall. Sustains really nice too.

But for clean country sound - Blackface Twin Reverb. (Or the Deluxe for less volume)
Turn down the gain (first control) to 2 , maybe 3 depending on how "hot" your guitar is. Then use the amp volume just like a real Twin. Add a little compression.
There's a factory preset for a twin - number is 3 or 4 - that is set to sound just like the classic country Twin.

Hope that helps.
