I just picked up a III for house gear at my music venue.
Haven't done more then play around with some presets and install Fuse.

Am I correct in thinking there is no USER PRESETS bank on the III.
That there are 100 Factory Presets and if I want to store something of my own I need to alter an existing slot?

Also is there a way to down load some xml or xls or midi or some other file that will give me the numerical info for all the presets?

I see the individual presets online.

So I am assuming that we have to alter, and then if we want to go back we have to destroy the new setup in order to reload the old factory preset. (but we can do one at a time instead of the whole bank.)

Please tell me I am not correct.

You are correct, but the good news is: at least half the presets are useless bee buzzers for Spinal Tap wannabees so there's lots of available real estate. And of course you can migrate the good presets from anywhere to anywhere.

FUSE has a lot of flexibility with backup of presets, loading, saving, swapping, etc.

The first thing I did was save the defaults as "Original 100" .. I think these are even in the firmware so if you lose your pc, and want to reset it all you can reset the entire amp.

Think of it as having 100 banks, and the factory presets are examples of which to work off from. They filled them because it would be better than just having the amp unboxed with 100 empty presets. :)

Thanks for the reply.

Seems a shame. would have been nice to have some blank slots to fool around with out of the box.

I only found about 50 useful presets myself and moved them to 50-99. I now have 49 that I can easily write over which is more than I'll ever need. The cool thing about the backup is if you play different styles music or play in different bands, you can simply backup those sounds and reload them for each particular gig. That is a very cool feature of the fuse software. The only thing I don't like about the amp is I wish it had a midi control so you could use either the supplied foot switch or a midi controller, or both at the same time. The 3 only quick favorites are not enough for me as I like to have my sounds layed out so I can change to any of them at a drop of a hat. The foot switch will definately take some getting used to for me. Now when I play a song that has 4-5 different sounds in it, I have to have them fill each preset and keep a cheat sheet of where those songs are so I can recall them at any time. Kind of a pain but I'm adjusting.

They were blank to begin with, Fender just gave us some extra presets in them that you can keep or discard

Can you let me know which ones are the extras, so I can reclaim my empty slots?
:P

I went through and recorded every factory preset parametar value and now have them in Excel spreadsheets. This was to enable the re-creation of single/multiple presets by hand.
Available if anyone is interested.
Cheers

Using FUSE, pressing the New button will create a "blank" preset. You can tweak it and save it to an amp slot rather easily.
