hi guys, juste want to thank you all because curiously i have the same set up (Mustang V head with Jetcity 2 x 12 stereo mono Cab)and was going insane trying to solve that same issue!
everything is woking fine and sounds great!

the first thing i did trying to solve that problem is re-wire the speakers with 2 mono jack and removing the switch board that was in the cab originaly. I left it like that but i isolated the two jacks to prevent them from grounding each other on the cab metal jack plate.

Out of curiousity: Why a Mustang V head with a Jet City 2x12 cab as opposed to a Mustang IV 2x12 combo or a Mustang V with the intended Mustang 4x12 cab?

I'm late as you already solved the problem, I built a 4x8 cab for my mustang V head last year, I used a metal plate, had the same problem, replaced it with a plastic plate problem solved,

To make a long story short, i had a mustang I and wanted to trade it in for a mustang III to get more presets and the lcd screen. I play in my basement alone so i didnt need much more. I stumbled on a great deal for a mustang V and thought it had speakers in it.. my mistake...

So i had to find a small cab with stereo capabilities that could handle the power of the speakerless mustang v head! You can find tons of used 4 x 12 cabs on the market but 2 x 12 cabs are very hard to find.Dont have the need or space for a 4 x 12. Found a demo jetcity cab on liquidation at my local music store.

(all the store in my area are getting rid of Jetcity brand amps and stuff cause they are having a hard time selling them, not popular enough that i was told)

At that point i would have rather get the mustang IV but not that many store carries them around here and couldnt find a deal for one.

That's the story...

Save up for the Mustang 4x12 cab... you'll be glad you did! I am a basement player too and was looking for a Mustang IV when I found a Mustang V v.2 head and barely used Mustang 4x12 cab that I could purchase for exactly $20 more than the lowest price I could get on a Mustang IV v.2. I love it even though the volume has never been past 3! It is my first half-stack and I have to say it just makes me feel badassed to play through it!
