Here is a good review of the mustang V from musicians friend but at the end of the review the person mentions a problem with the way the mustang combo speakers are mounted: AMAZING

BOUGHT IT FROM GUITAR CENTER TOTOWA, NJ AND ALL I CAN SAY IS AMAZING! THE FENDER 65 TWIN IS WORTH THE PRICE OF ADMISSION ALONE.

FUSE SOFTWARE AND ADDITIONAL SOFTWARE EXTRA BENNIES. FUSE COMMUNITY HAS PLENTY OF STUFF TO DOWNLOAD

THIS IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE G-DEC3 30 WATT IS THE END OF THE ROAD IN THE STUDIO FOR ME THAT IS REPLACING A TON OF GEAR BEING RETIRED

ON THE ROAD THE MUSTANG IS BEING USED IN CONJUNCTION WITH A SECOND MUSTANG V HEAD INTO AND OLD CUSTOM 4X12 SUNN 412S CAB WITH HIGH OUTPUT EMINENCE DELTA 12APROS (400 WATT EA @ 8 OHMS) ON THE BOTTOM (DRY) PAIR AND JBL D120FS (300W EACH @ 8OHMS) TOP PAIR WET L/R

BUYERS BEWARE THE CABS ON THE COMBOS HAVE RUMBLE AT HIGHER VOLUMES DUE TO THE WAY FENDER MOUNTED THE SPEAKERS ON THE BAFFLES ETC. YOU WILL NEED TO BUY SPEAKER SEALER/CAULK/GLUE WHATEVER TO FIX THIS. SEARCH MULTIPLE FORUMS ON THE INTERNET. ABOUT THI ISSUE

THIS HAS COMPLETELY CHANGED THE GAME FOR ME ANYWAY.

HAPPY HUNTING –

& FUGGEDABOUDIT!

I recently bought the Mustang IV and am mostly enjoying the sound except for one huge issue and one small issue.

Small.... I hear the slight amount of distortion coming in at trail ends of signal, like a slight overdrive pedal that kicks in in the background as a chord rings out.. I see that from the forums Fender is planning to resolve this issue... It is not the biggest deal though not characteristic of any real non modeled amp.

Huge! Huge!! even with the master at 4, when I play certain notes the grill and combo rattle, fart out and fizz from either the speaker mounting or something... This is extremely annoying and any fixes or suggestions would be appreciated... It is certain frequencies, for instance a F# minor seventh bar off of the 9nth fret, always cause certain notes to fizz with the vibration of the grill cloth and other parts of the amp... and this isn't even at gig volumes, ... which is the reason for getting the 150 watt combo, to be able to play at gig volume with headroom to spare... this is at master at 3-4, don't even get me started on master at 10 which might be necessary at some gigs...... So... anyone know of any fixes? Thanks...

If you want to "fix" the problem, seems like you will have to take the amp apart and seal the seams between the amp and the speakers. But since it is a new amp, I would contact Fender and demand that Fender fix the seals or replace the amp.

Is this a problem with the mustang combo amps only and or does the new mustang V 4x12 cab also have this rattle problem?

I'm using a Framus 4x12 stereo cab and the Mustang will burn your ears off at '4'. With that German engineering cab, I get no buzzes, fizzes or anything else. Good idea about sealing the speakers. Your best bet is to do this yourself. I'm sure the manufacturer won't consider this a 'defect' but maybe more 'misuser error'.

Or just buy a different / better cab. I've cranked a older Peavey 4x12 with Sheffields & metal grill and it was tight and solid.

The issue we are discussing Is Not cab related since it's perfectly perceptible using headphones only.
