Hi guys

Running Windows XT on Acer Travelmate 5720 with Realtek HD audio sound card.

I just bought a Mustang III and I'm, very happy with it. I have installed the driver (latest one), Fuse (latest one) and Live 8.2.1.

Live can find Fender ASIO driver, but FUSE says "no amplifier connected" in the lower left corner.

I have tried to uninstall everything a few times, tried to install in different order etc.

Fuse just can't find my amp.....so what do i do? :D

1. Amp is off.
2. USB cable is connected to amp and computer
3. Turn amplifier ON.
4. Computer recognizes Fender Mustang.
A. Problem solved
B. Computer acknowledges unknown device
a. Re-install program and drivers
b. Re-try 1-4
C. Nothing happens
a. Go to control panel and check usb port hub is operational
b. Try another USB peripheral in the same slot

5. Try a Factory Restore on the Mustang by holding down the EXIT button while turning the amp on, hold exit button untill it goes out.

Ok....I think I have found something.....

When I look in the hardware list i see this :?: :!: - So it looks like the driver isn't properly installed ;o(

Does anyone know what files MUST be there? When I look in the "fender universal ASIO" folder I can see asiofuni.dll and an uninstall file. Should there not be anything else?

If I try to reinstall driver through windows it can't find any drivers

Basically the computer recognizes that the mustang is there, but for some reason it is not functioning correct.

Btw I tried to do a factory restore by holding exit down while turning it on......nothing really happened there. It just start up as it normally does, so if it should show me, in some way, that i actually did do a factory reset....something is wrong here as well.

Hey Zymi,

It does appear to be a driver issue. Open Device Manager, plug you amp in and under "Universal Serial Buss Controllers" look for a "USB Composite Device. Unplug your amp to see if that device goes away, if so, that USB Composite Device is your amp. Plug your amp back in, right-click that USB Comp. Device, and select Uninstall. After it uninstalls, unplug your amp and plug it back in once more. The drivers should begin to reinstall.

I can see it, but it is not installed correct - See the yellow stuff.

When I unplug the amp, it disappers from the device manager.

There is no uninstall, but there is a delete when right-clicking. However there is a driver uninstall in the mustang ASIO directory.....which one should I use?

What do you mean by "drivers should begin to reinstall"?

Another option is using fender's great warranty (5 years). I had a great experience with getting my G Dec replaced.

Hello,

Try removing the device form within Device Manager (the device that has the exclamation point.

I bought my amp last week and did not get a DVD with it. I downloaded FUSE from the web and installed it (latest version). Connected up the amp to USB and it was recognized ... I ran into trouble getting the firmware up to date, had to connect it to a MAC. Haven't tried the new beta firmware yet ...

I purchased my Mustang I amplifier almost two weeks ago. I used "FenderFUSE_FULL_2.4.1.exe". The USB Composite Device is installed and I've been able to update the firmware in my amplifier, but the "Mustang Amplifier" driver will not install because the files can not be created on the hard drive. I found a program in the C:\Program Files\Fender\Fender FUSE folder called Fender FUSE Driver Setup.exe. Apparently, the Fender Fuse installer runs this sub-program to install further drivers. When I run the sub-program the C:\Program Files\Fender\Fender FUSE Device Drivers folder is not created and the installer says "Error Creating C:\Program Files\Fender\Fender FUSE Device Drivers\Uninstall.exe", although no files or folder are created. I've run the installer as administrator and changed the destination folder to no avail. How can I install the "Mustang Amplifier" driver?

I have Windows Vista (fully updated) on a Dell Inspiron 530.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

I also copied the Fender FUSE Driver Setup.exe program to my Windows XP Pro machine and the same thing happened. I was not able to create the folder/files on that PC as the Administrator, either.

Hey JR,

In the USB Controllers section of the Device Manager, the amp should show up as a USB Composite Device. Uninstall that device with the amp connected, unplug it, and plug it back in. Let me know if that works.

I saw that suggestion many times and tried it to no avail. I've resorted to uninstalling the most recent version of Fuse, and installed FenderFUSE_FULL_2.4.0.exe with no success, then installed FenderFUSE_FULL_2.3.0.exe with no sucess. For some reason the sub-program that creates the Mustang Amplifier driver files can not create the folder/files. I've done this on two different computers, Vista and XP Pro. As I stated above, the other drivers install just fine. I can connect to the amplifier and have updated the firmware. It would be nice if I could get a copy of the driver files that can't be created, then Windows could install them.

I think I have had the issue and just managed to fix it. My PC is Win7 64bit and Windows was detecting Mustang I connected to USB, but the drivers were not found I had the device visible in Device Manager with and exclamation sign and "Code 28".

The fix was to install this Microsoft patch:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2529073

It appears MS messed up something in its patches and sometimes a generic USB driver calles WinUSB.sys was partially broken. This caused the whole process of detecting drivers for Mustang to break in the middle.

I hope this will be useful

Tomek

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm not having problems detecting that a USB device is attached. I'm having problems installing the Windows Vista driver for that device (Mustang Amplifier) because the driver files are not being created on the hard drive. What I find interesting is that two new versions of the FUSE Install program have been released since my last message. I've installed FenderFUSE_FULL_2.5.0.18 to no avail and I'm downloading FenderFUSE_FULL_2.5.1 as I type this message. Hopefully, the latest install program will be able to create the folder/files, but I'm not going to hold my breath...
