When I have tested this, you are able to just use the fx send as a direct out to the mixing board. The fx return is not a requirement. Using the fx send only also does not affect the output of the Mustang speaker(s).

I can't answer your question on the technical aspects of the cab emulation using the fx send as a direct out. What I can say is that the signal sent from the fx send sounds pretty good and similar to that coming out of the speakers. Similar to what you would hear out of the headphone or USB outputs (except for the fact that the Master volume affects the headphone out, but not the fx send).

Hope that helps.

The cabinet emulation must be on the FX send. You can change the setting when you press the "amp" button twice. I bet that you''l hear a change to the FX send signal when you change this setting.

Hi everyone.
Does anybody know how to connect the Mustang III to a mixing board using the Headphone Outuput but not muting the the amp speaker?
I prefer the headphone output sound than the FX Send, but I want to use the amp speaker as monitor.
Is it possible? Can it be done with the Fender Fuse software?

Thanks so much.

Hi charlylennon,
I don't think so. I believe the speaker is muted when using the headphone jack.
I having been miking my MIII so I can use it as a monitor as well. I need to try the
fx out to see if I like the sound.

Plus, the headphone out volume varies with the Master volume. The FX send volume does not vary with the master volume, it only changes with the preset volume.

Hi again, thanks for the answers.

I have another question: has anybody tried the Mustang amps with a microphone connected to a mixing board? I need to get in the mixing board the same sound I get in the amp speaker, but still I couldn't.
I don't know if it's because the Fx Send doesn't send exactly the same sound than the amp speaker or because of my mixing board.
What do you think it is the best way to get the same sound in the mixing board? microphones, Fx Send, Phones Outuput?

Thanks so much!

Mic because what you're getting out of the speaker is going into the mic.The speaker makes a big difference in sound.
