The Mustang IV and V have the 4 button footswitch because the switch comes with the amp. If a Mustang IV or V owner wants the 2 button switch which comes with the Mustang III, the owner would have to wait. Fender did not release the separate footswitches (the 2 and 4 button models) when they released the Mustang III, IV, and V. Switches apparently were to be released later if they did not come with the amp.

Looks like they will be available 03-05-2011. You can pre-order them from MF.

If you have a G-DEC 4 button foot switch lying around (or a good friend who can loan one to you), you can use it in the meantime, if you don't mind that the bottom row of labels say {play, record, overdub} instead of {stomp, mod, delay}.

The person at GC who ordered mine was not aware of the difference, nor the difference in timing of availability, and erroneously ordered me a G-DEC foot switch. He has promised to sort things out for me eventually, but I am in no hurry to exchange if they don't have the Mustang ones in stock just yet.

Fair enough.

According to my manifest, I purchased a "ULT-4 4-Button Footswitch for G-Dec 30 and B-Dec 30 Regular"; the unit has part # 0994070000 printed on it.

It works fine. At least, so far I don't smell smoke, and I can access all the functions that the official Mustang foot switch is supposed to, using the same buttons.

Wow, thanks PITA! (love your bread BTW).

Methinks I'll give it a go and save me a ton of dough!

Hi,
Query on the "waiting-for" 4 Button Switch.
Does the Bank Up function, which changes banks of ten presets, do so in the order
- say 00 to 09 etc. or will it change as in, say, 04 to 13 , that is, a bank of ten up
from whatever number your on at a particular time ?. Or is it set on fixed banks -
00 to 09 , 10 to 19 etc.
Hope that makes sense.
Jim :?

Here's what my G-DEC switch does:

If the last up/down button click on the 4-button switch was up, then the bank button hits the multiples of 10 in ascending order (e.g., 16->17-->20-->30-->40...)

If the last up/down button click on the 4-button switch was down, then the bank button hits the multiples of 10 in descending order (e.g., 17->16-->10-->00-->90...)

The last click of the 2-button switch in up/down mode is irrelevant.

If you cycle through the modes on the 4-button switch, it reverts back to the default of ascending through the banks when you get back to up/down/bank mode.

Someone with a real honest-to-<deity> Mustang 4-button switch will have to confirm that it does the same.

HTH,

PITA

Thanks PITA,
I'll digest that useful piece of help. I can see the basic logic behind it.
Hope the Mustang version is similar. How practical is the footswitch
in live use, as on a gig, where neat footwork is required for quick changes ?.
Any tips ?.
Jim

Just tried mine, works great! I'll have to actually read the manual to figure out the details, but the in-F/S tuner works fine and all the preset switching seems to be functioning as advertised. Fender definitely gave us some misinformation there.
