I cannot believe this guy said this about the new mustang III,maybe he got a bad one?or either he works for peavey or line 6,what do you all think about it?here is his review from musicians friend:Seriously?

Experience w/product: I own it
Reviewer's Background: Hobbyist
Reviewer's Play Style: Anything
I was in the market for a combo amp and looked at this one really hard - the reviews were certainly there. I was frankly shocked at how horrible it sounded. I tried for a week or so to tweak it but it just didn't work. With an amp stand pointed toward me it was even worse. This amp sounds very tweaky, thin, high pitched - not much low end at all. Clean sounds are mediocre. Distortion is terrible. Effects not good either. Were it my product i'd be embarrassed to stand by it.

On the positive note it was packed nicely by Fender. The look and feel of quality was there until you turn it on and listen. The software interface with Fuse was cool in concept (if it sounded good).

I was really sad I couldn't get it to work out but the tone this thing produces was just awful. So many people are loving on it, makes you wonder how many are Fender reps. This was my first Fender amp, had high hopes but sadly, it was returned. Would have loved to have a nice Strat and amp combo.

Buyer beware and keep your receipt. Get as much time in with it as you can during that grace period. You decide.

I found a real problem with distortion (And I think if you see other posts about high gain.) that it's because all the metal presets are set to volume 7 or higher, when they need to be dialed back to 3 or 4. Otherwise everything is completely muddy sounding, and it's awful. I would probably suggest Fender dials back all their high gain presets, because when you use them as-is, they sound like crap, they're muddy, and if you put an effect in them, they get 10 times worse.

When dialed back, they sound amazing, and you can get every metal tone you could think of.

Way too over the top, we all have a preference but there is no way the amp is as bad as he is saying...

Personally I think its the best model amp out there, minus a couple flaws like small jacks going in at the top, that cant give an output without the the speaker output being silent.. and also a better foot controller option would not go a miss.. other than that its a Fantastic amp at an unreal price.

Even if you don't find it is down your ally, you really cant knock it..

That's too bad. I just wonder what he was looking for and what would be a pleasing sound for this guy.

I have a hard time believing that he tried to tweak it for a week and couldn't find a sound that he liked.

There really is no clue in his review to tell us what sound he was looking for or what he is comparing the Mustang III to.

I get plenty of bottom on my 3 (did so on the 2 I traded in too) don't know what the guy is missing. I use the cleans mainly although I did discover the Brit 60's tonight with low-mid gain. Usually don't like the Brit models but on the 3 it is killer.

Some people are never going to get what they think they are buying. I have friends who buy new golf clubs every other year or so, thinking it's the clubs that will change their game - never happens, I still beat 'em with the Pings I bought back in '95. Golf or guitar, it still comes down to practice!

With any decent amp you're going to get all kinds of sounds, good and bad. Fender does tend to load their G-DEC and Mustang amps with too much metal for my taste, and those presets are usually too loud to boot, but that's the beauty of the Mustang series - if you don't like it, change it.

When I was young, I just wanted to be able to play by myself and be able to stand to listen to the sounds I was making. When it comes to guitar amps, I'm a certified ampaholic and I love something about all of the amps I own. I own several brands of modeling amps, plus all of the Fender amps listed below. But right now I'm hooked on and enjoying both of my Mustang amps.

I guess some people just need more and different amps to compare to before they buy. And if you can't play, no amp (or guitar) is going to change that all by itself.

OK, if you are a "Metal Guy", don't buy this amp! This is a great tool for people that like a large pallet of sounds that are all pretty darn good. If you play Hard core metal, get a two channel "TREADPLATE" style amp as that's all you'll need. You don't need a good Tweed sound, don't need a good Blackface sound, etc. You just want an over-the-top sound and a pseudo clean sound and you are good. Just get the "Sandman" opening and the crunch and you are good to go  Almost none of the Modeling type amps to me do this particularly stunning. The Mustang III that I purchased is just amazing in all other aspects. I bought one because I was demoing one and got so lost in the great sound it made that I forgot that I was demoing an amp and just started enjoying playing guitar...for two hours at Guitar Center!!! This amp has better clean tones that many of the vintage tube Fenders that I have owned over the years so you either got a bad amp or maybe you just haven't had that much experience with good clean tube amps. No offense meant but this thing's a Clean amp powerhouse, believe me. I love the overdriven sounds as well, especially the Deluxe Reverb, Tweed Deluxe and the British 60's(see Vox). I just think that you are asking this amp to be what it is not. That being said, I think that all of these modeling amps have way too much gain in their presets. On almost every preset I have ever tried, the Gain needed to be set at about 1/2 of what it was set at. Believe me, Angus's sound does not come from a Pedal or a Master Volume digging the preamp gain. It comes from raw, unadulterated power tube volume turned up to 10. Same with Zep. Try picking your fav preset, turn down the Bass and the Gain to 1/2 of what they are at at VIOLA!

I disagree at this point. After tweaking the volume levels from 7+ down to about 4, and dialing your guitar volume knob, you can squeeze nearly any metal tone out of the Mustang as you want. Even the some real doomy sounding stuff that isn't just fuzz.

I also disagree about the metal tones not sounding good,i have a peavey vypyr 15 and 30 watt, spider III 15w,spider II hd75 plus many more guitar modeling processors such as digitech gnx3,rp80,rp100,korg ax1500g,ect...,my vypyrs high gain models are too harsh and thin sounding and my spider II and III are also harsh and digital sounding compared to my mustang I,i like the metal tones in my mustang I better then my other amps mentioned here because it has a smoother and less harsh sounding distortion and i like it better then some of my other modeling processors,if you are a plug and play guy, please do not buy any modeling amp because you have to almost tweak all of these amps to sound good, just think of all the different combinations of amps, cabs and effects that you have in fuse to tweak your mustang,if anyone cannot find a good clean tone, overdrive or high gain distortion with your mustang after editing it in fuse than you should just go back to your one trick pony amp but i know i will be finding great tones for years from my mustang.

This is really the crux of it, I think. You really have no idea how far this amp lets you go without days and days of tweaking. I was in the same boat as all the other 'this amp doesnt do metal very well :(' until I found the magic tweaking method.

This amp does everything. Literally everything.

Agreed.

When I have to go from Don Rich to Ritchie Sambura to Lionel Ritchie to Ritchie Kotzen I grab a Mustang!
