Hi

I have just purchased a Fender Mustang 4 which I am really happy with..

The only niggle I have is only being able to have two sounds available to choose from on the foot controller.. (having only an up and down switch meaning that on some sounds you will need to hit the switch 2 or 3 times, rather than having three switches with a sound saved to each of them)

I was wondering what extra options you have when using the 2 switch control as well as the 4?

can anyone let me know the options?, the instructions are not all that great really... any help would be appreciated.

What is included these days "in the box" as far as instructions are generally what is needed to get started. The bulk of information is on line. Have you checked out the Mustang Support page here at Fender.com, there is a wealth of information there....

To answer your question, here is the page on the foot switches which shows what the options are...

Quote:
Six-Button Footswitching options Plug both a 4-button and a 2-button footswitch into your Mustang amplifier to expand your remote control options. By assigning different functions to each footswitch you can create more than a dozen different foot control combinations. For example, you could assign Quick Access presets to the 4-button footswitch and Up/Down presets to the 2-button footswitch. Or you could bypass effects with the 4-button footswitch and select presets with the 2-button footswitch. The choice is up to you.

I have a Mustang III myself and have the 4 button switch pre-ordered with Musician's Friend. I plan to use the 4 button switch to save 4 presets and the 2 button switch to scan up/down the presets.

I don't believe you can quite do this (though you can come close). As best I can tell, there are exactly 3 "quick access" presets that can be configured; the 2-button foot switch can select 1 or 2, the 3-button foot switch can select either of the three (the leftmost button controls only the foot switch mode).

I have a III, but the instructions appear to be common for III through V.
