I've been playing an acoustic guitar for a couple years and recently got an electric guitar and amp (both Fender)

Now this is probably a very stupid question, but how do I get my Mustang II to give me a clean sound without any of the effects of the presets? The Mustang II videos says something about Fender Clean sounds, but I just don't know how to get that from the amp. I'm just looking to have the sound of the electric Guitar amplified without using the preset.

I hope this all makes sense.

Start out with whatever model you want ..then turn both the Mod/Reverb nobs up a tad then OFF ... I think somebody might have already up'd a preset with this done already.. if interested. I also find ..turning everything to zero ..e.g. treble, bass, etc ..using I think Deluxe Amp... gave me really nice clean tone ..again, both Mod/Rev. OFF.

Makes perfect sense - and aLinux has it nailed - it's one of the easiest things to do.

It's the first thing I did when I put the amp to a test so I could hear what it was giving me as an amp - I still use a pedalboard and a slight slash of reverb - done.

I haven't tried your Deluxe setting aL, but I'll give that a go - thanks

Thanks Guys,

Here's the problem i'm facing. Like you said I have everything on the amp turned to zero (Gain, Volume, Terbbe, Bass, Master) the MOD and REV are also set to off. The Present is turned all the way left to Metal 2000.

The tone and master on the guitar is also turned to zero.

I plug the guitar into the amp and turn the amp on. Increase the Master on the amp and the volume of the guitar a little. The amp has the Metal 2000 preset selected since that's where the knob is turned to. I turn the mod and dev up a tad and then back to off, but i get a feedback. It's like i have a mic right next to the guitar. If i tap the guitar it sounds as if i'm taping a mic. When i strum, i get a a reverb and a grainy sound as if i'm using a very cheap mic. The only way to stop it is if i mute the string with my hand. If i take my hand off the string I get a sound from the amp as if i somehow gently strummed that string. That's how it is no matter what i do and what preset i select. Of course some presets give me a slightly cleaner sound like the Bristish 80.

I don't know if this is normal and I just really suck at playing the electric guitar, or there's something else wrong.

Move further away from the Amp.... or turn the Amp volume down even more...accoustics normally will feedback ..especially on the Metal 2000 ..but you need to ZERO out EVERYTHING once you picked your model. Choose the Clean models .. like Deluxe or Twin
than ZERO all the knobs and increase the MASTER a tad and as you move away from ur AMP the feedback will go away ..or shift body position. Always Turn the Mod/Rev. up a tad way before ZEROING them else they remain ON.

Accoustics = most feedback
Electric = less feedback

if you have hollow body, either electro/acoustic of archtop, you don't want to use hi-gain presets like metal2000 because your guitar will squeal like a pig. But that's normal with hollow bodied guitars because they resonate a lot.

you should first choose another amp model like twin or deluxe, they are clean. then put gain on minimum level and turn up the volume (not master)
On some amp models (like bassman) require some gain, but on '57 deluxe you can put gain to zero.
...and you shouldn't ZERO everything. Lower the gain, turn up volume, but put bass and treble (and mid) to 5 for starting point and carefully add master volume.

You can prevent some feedback by purchasing a sound hole plug like this one: http://www.guitartips.addr.com/tip129.html The round ones should be cheap, f-hole plugs are not so cheap but you can make them yourself. Here's the idea: http://gretschpages.com/forum/general-tech-questions/tts-tech-tip-4-how-to-make-f-hole-plugs/14562/page1/

And don't play facing the amp if you haven't plugged the soundhole.

or if you are in metal2000 things you should buy a solid body guitar...black one. with a lot of spikes and sharp edges. those have better sustain. But you should never play these guitars above your waist when standing because you might poke someone's eye out. :)

...And I agree with all Alinux said except putting EQ to zero :)

I use to have this Red BB King type semi hollow electric .. it fed back allot .. so i stuffed it with a bed sheet ... not recommended ...but ..what he mentions.. the thing that covers the round Hole will help allot.

No, aperto Fuse, "la ricerca di acustica" che è pulito.
No, open Fuse, "search for acoustic" that is clean.
