Is it possible to modify the headphone jack on the Mustang I so that when you plug in an input it doesn't turn the speaker off.

I want to use it to output to a G-Dec 15 I have thereby getting the Mustang I sounds through both amps and input it either into the G-Dec 15 guitar input or aux/mp3? Band Tracks, twice the speakers, twice the watts twice the sound!

Possibly... From what I understand, it's using a "switching jack" to acomplish this. However, much of today's cucuitry is made using surface mount technology on computerized assembly lines and changing out the jack would require completely disassembling the amp, surface mount soldering tools (expensive) and good technique with those tools to not muck up the job.

A better and safer alternative to messing with the headphone jack would be to come right off the speaker using resistors to match out the impedance to line level. Instructions for doing that can be found in a PDF file available from this site:

http://www.singlecoil.com/frmset.html

Click on the Amps button on the left - the link will be labled "Adding an additional "line out" jack to any amp".

You'd be putting the new jack in the back panel of the amp - which is MDF, so you would need a jack dish to mount the jack into. You can get what you need from the following link or shop around for another source:

Thanks for the great tips, I might even learn something here.

Is it possible to use the usb? Fender calls it a speaker emulated usb out..........to the usb on the g-dec. I guess even if it works out the G-Dec would need to accept usb in and what kind of data is being sent? I would assume digital. Any way I could send some sort of audio signal out of a PC usb out to G-Deg in?

I don't know that I have seen a usb cable with a micro plug on each end but it wouldn't be too hard to make
