I'm interested in the possibility of using a Mustang head for its modeling and effects capabilities in combination with other amps.

Is there an output jack to connect a Mustang head directly into another amp, with output from everything but the power amp stage of the Mustang head? just the preamp, amp/cab modeling, and effects are all I'm interested in capturing.

Scenario:
1)Plug my Strat into Mustang V head and set the amp model and effects I want;
2)Run a cable from the Mustang head to either the input jack or effects return on other amp.

My other amps are monaural (mono), so I know I'll lose the stereo capability of the Mustang. How big of a deal is that? Will the effects sound garbled going to a mono source?

Btw, the Mustang amps' use of stereo (including the 4x12 cabinet) make it one of the coolest new production run (non-boutique) amps out there today, IMO.

I'd buy the whole rig, but I don't need to lug a 4x12 cabinet for what I play (classic rock, classic r&b, blues, jazz, country, pop, etc.).

Is my idea even feasible? Open to any and all opinions, suggestions.

Thanks!

John

I dont own one so I dont know for sure. But you could take a standard 1/4 inch jack, wire that off the speaker of the other amp.that way you dont have to worrie about powering up 2 amps, haveing 2 diferent volume,tone,ect.Just use the other amp as a cab. :) Just takeing a shot in the dark.But that should work. :wink:

Sure you can. just use the Mustang's LEFT EFX out-send into the second amps EFX IN-return. The IN-return is a direct input to the Power Transformer. In other words - no signal from the second preamp gets through to the mustangs toneand you only get the second amps power amp and speaker tone.

This assumes that the EFX IN/Out in NOT run in parallel. It would need to be run in SERIES i.e. plugging into the Return/In breaks the connection with the Send/Return line.

Blessings, Bo
