hello, great info throughout this forum!
i recently read something about not using a bass thru the mustangs.
but what about my electric/acoustic? i don't foresee any problems with this.
any thoughts?

So...I tried my electric acoustic thru the III and did not encounter any problem with very clean amp sounds. I accidentally switched to a SuperSonic and got huge feedback. Of course, my master volume was very low.
Any thoughts on voiding my warranty doing this, even on rare circumstances.

You should be able to use your electric/acoustic, as this has the same frequency range as an electric. The problem with using a bass is the lower frequencies and higher output of the pickups to reproduce those frequencies. The clean Fender models will work best for you.
