I have the line 6 spider II hd75 head with line 6 spider III 4x12 cab but i want to sell or trade in my spider hd75 head so i can get the mustang V head to use with my line 6 4x12 cab,the cab is 4 ohm mono and 8 ohm stereo,it seems that it should work with the mustang V,what do you all think about this setup?

Yes . . this will work fine. They should sound GREAT!

I use the V head into my custom 2 X12 EV12M-Ls and the sound is fantastic. The EVs have a very wide frequency spectrum and while "guitar" speakers (and heavy as they get) they handle all the different amps very nicely.

There is another thread on here about hooking up speakers. The bottom line is . . . you can use one 8 ohm into one speaker output; two 8 ohm speakers with one each going to the two speaker outputs; or no speakers and use the Efx OUT (send) to a mixing board or PC audio input.

If you use "your" speakers - try turning off the cab sims - you may or may not like it but the sims will "color" your tone.

Good luck . . . have fun!

Bo

Along with the above recommendations, check to see if your Spider cab has the Line6 custom made Celestions. If that's the case, they were designed to be 'flat' with regards to your spider head. Line6 had these speakers designed that way so the amp models would sound true.

So hooking up your Mustang to it may not give you the tonal accuracy you're looking for. I have a 2x12 DuoVerb Line6 combo and don't run anything else through the speakers except the DuoVerb amp. The sound engineers designed it to be a certain way, but if you like the sound, then it's your ears that should be the judge.

I also have a marshall jcm 900 1960a 4x12 cab and my line 6 4x12 has some more mid range and the high end is brighter than my marshall 4x12,so if anyone has the new mustang v 4x12 cab and a marshall 4x12 cab like the one i have let me know what difference you hear between these cab's?i think the line 6 cab may sound good because the amp models on the mustang are smoother and less harsh sounding than the models on my spider hd75 head,i have the mustang I so i have heard the difference between the line 6 and mustang amp models.

Yes,my line 6 spider III 4x12 seems to have the custom celestions in it,the mustang v 4x12 has the celestion rocket 50 speakers in it,i wonder how much of a difference there is in tone between these celestions?
