Bought my MustangII for xmas and have been tweaking for a month now. I decided to leave my Blues Deville at home this weekend and gig the Mustang. Large venue, PA provided, 600-800 people depending on who you ask.

Yes, some channel switching would have been nice, but I decided to just reach back and grab the next preset when needed. Just my guitar/tu-2 tuner/MustangII, Senn E609 to the house. Had to run master at 8 just to clear the acoustic drums, but do-able I guess. Did a little EQ on the fly, I like that I can twist a knob and save it in a few seconds without any problems. It would have been handy to chart a list of presets, as I couldn't remember their exact positions on the dial. My mesa patch ruled, and the JCM was passable. I really need to learn how to tweak the FX on the fly, THAT was the biggest downfall of the night. Maybe next time I'll set up a laptop, just to get better control.

Really kinda upset to find out about the III and IV, which would have been a way better solutions for live work, maybe I'll talk GC into trading up for one or the other.

"To clear the drums" (your mean for you to hear it as a monitor?)
Anyone else comment on it?
What would be a grade given?

Gridley, Just use Fuse and save presets in sequence.. to the songs your playing... to a colored row.. then no real need for the laptop..

Yeah unfortunately I soundchecked before the drummer and left for a while. I was very comfortable with the amp up about 30" off the floor and master set at about 4, a little bit fed into my two front stage monitors. Then we started the show and I literally couldn't hear myself for the first 10 songs. Have you ever played guitar by sight?

I finally got the crew's attention when I dialed it up to 8 and let her wail. That forced me to make a few quick EQ adjustments, but nothing I was unhappy about really. All in all I'd say it performed quite well, and I might have dusted some of the "new" off the speaker during the next couple of hours.

I'm sure I'll be tweaking more at subsequent gigs (this ain't my first modelling rig). I'd say the amount of bass response was pretty good for a single twelve, but I may end up missing my 212 Devilles down the road.

I'd give this a solid B+, and more power, easier switching or midi would have made it A+. But I guess that's available now in the III, IV, and V.

I wish Fender would put out a pedal version for guys who already have all the amplifiers they can stand. I know it's not aimed at that crowd, but they could really give Line6, Behringer, Vox, Boss, and Roland a real run for their money. If they can make the Mustang I retail at $99, imaging how cool the pedal would have been(don't forget the FX loop!)

The models sound really good to my ears. This was my best modelling stage experience yet.

Well ..it held up and I'm sure you'll get it worked out and set just right... I bet you loved the feather-weight of the MII over the 212 :o) God ..I know I would of

Remember the III is larger and heavier than the II though. For small gigs the II is ideal. Hard to find a better power/weight ratio outside of the ZT stuff.

Yeah they sound better turned up, but still sound good at low volumes.

I had a superchamp XD. Somewhat of a modeling amp without the fancy computer stuff. I think its a great amp if only it came in larger cabinets. If I'm not mistaken, doesn't the Mustang have a 1/4" mixer output you might of used instead of using a mic?

It's got an 1/8 headphone jack which supposedly doubles as a speaker emulated line out, but it cuts off the speaker. My brain tells me a headphone jack is not gonna deliver the same sound. It might be a great idea, but it's gonna involve even more tweaking, without the benefit of any speaker at all.

I bought this kinda as a placebo for the Pod HD500 that I've been on the fence for since it came out. Didn't really wanna blow xmas money on myself. I think it was a good choice, but I'm already keen on trading up for an MIII or MIV.

Well it's got a USB out to the PC, you dont need a speaker emulated out unless you're trying to run it to a mixer/PA etc... but then it would be best to just mic it ; )

It sounds completely different to be honest. Sometimes better, sometimes worse.

Same on the HD500, kind of bought this as a domeover.
