But to be honest, I can see how people who have gotten used to the tones on Line 6 amps would not feel quite as comfortable right away with the Mustang. Still though, the Mustang is easily the best choice for me. Great sounds at all volumes. Great sounds with single coils and with humbuckers, strat, tele and les paul. (as some others have claimed.)

I'm picking my Mustang III Tuesday. I spent a few hours demoing them. WOW! I've owned a lot of amps, tried many out in the past. I thought that the presets were OK, but like most of these modeling amps, the Gain is up way too high on every model. That goes for the Amp models too. Cut the Gain back on every one of these things and cut the bass back too, especially if you are using HB'ers.

I went through most of the the amps and some of the stock presets and liked the amp once I got to really spend some time with it. I thought it was pretty good at most of the setting. What really sold me thought the last day was the Blackface Deluxe model. Holy $@!& Batman! I've owned a few original Deluxes over the years and none of mine ever sounded as good as that model! Smooth and unbelievable reverb. I'd given up on finding a deluxe that I would love, but this was it...and it was a modeling amp! I originally liked the idea of the amp because I was considering building a 5E3 Tweed Deluxe to nail that classic R & B thang but I thought, man, if I could buy a good modeling amp to get that for $299 and also get some other goodies, right on. The Tweed amps, all 3 sound pretty good to me. Vox sound is ok and the "70s Brit(marshall)" wasn't bad either. But that BF Deluxe, WOW!

Today is my third day after bringing the amp home. I've spent quite a bit of time with the amp in the last few days. It sounds better everyday. I'm glad I gave it a chance. It will definately work for me until I'm ready to shell out the cash for a tube amp.

When I got this thing home first day, it was unusable. Way to ice-picky, bright, and thin sounding. It's really breaking in nicely. :)

For $299, it's a great little amp. It sounds much better than the Behringer I was using.

What Tube Amp you thinking about getting? As it is now .. things being back to normal after Xmas, I've now saved up $2,600 to spend on wutev ..and I still can't think of a better Amp then the Mustangs ritenow. I've got a killer Tube Amp here that does the things its suppose tooi...but everytime I plug into the Mustang... it takes me from the Tube thing... into ***EVERYTHING*** the Tube Amps are missing ... The modeling is amazing and these built-in effects are the icing ..then we have cabs to play with and some cool SAG/BIAS fun stuff .. but as it is ..the MII is really all I need and today I had it cranked to 6 and 7 and it performed...I'll have to try the MIV and see if I really like it .. I hope it sounds as good as the MII :)

aLinux, although I haven't picked mine up yet(spent a lot of time in the store however), I have to agree with you, so far anyway. I have been buying/trading tube amps for a long time now. The one that got away though was a Vox British made Top Boost reissue with an English Blue Celestion. Other than that, most have been just "okay". I'm really more into the Tweed Thang right now as I had a Bassman and loved it but not the size and the fact it was way loud. The BF Deluxe model on the Mustang III is what sold me. The greatest clean sound I have ever heard. Lots of amps sound good to real good dirty, but not very many sound worth a crap clean. The Bassman was pretty good clean but not good dirty until pretty loud. My old '76 SF Deluxe never sounded as good as the Mustang III does. Crazy good. I'll have to say though so far, It seems that my Egnater Tweaker combo still has the best sounding "Marshall" sound that I've heard in a real long time. Better than any new Marshall I've heard too. I also have lot's of guitars. Recently picked up a MIM Jazzmaster Classic Player. Really enjoying that. I have a Tele, a VG Strat and a Les Paul Special w/2 P-90s. Others laying around as well. I'll keep you guys posted on my programming progress as I get the user channels set up. That will be the proof in the pudding.
