I've went through the presets and played with them a bit and adjusted them some. This thing just sounds too bright and tinny. Thin. I can't find any sound at all that I like. The reason I bought it was because I was under the impression it would get close (tonewise) to alot of different amps. I've listened to these amps on you tube and I thought they sounded pretty good. Now I'm not so sure. Anyone have any advice? It would be greatly appreciated.

Edit..... Boxed it up. It's going back to Guitar Center. :(

Connect to the Fuse software, you can tweak further with the PC interface, if that is'nt the answer, then it's just not for you. Then maybe try the Cube or the Valvtronix which are also popular modeling amps.

I use to have a Peavy amp. It was a long time ago, I don't remember what kind of Peavy it was. It had one 12" speaker in it and sounded awesome. I just got back into playing electric guitars about 6 months ago. I have an AVRI '57 and a 2010 Am Standard. I've been playing on a Behringer Vampire Lx210. I like to play blues, country, and rock. The Behringer is ok but turned up it sounds like crap. I didn't try this Mustang out much at GC before I bought it because I've read alot of good things about them on here. It may just be that I'm not adjusting it right

Does the mustang II sound like the III or is it different. I understand it has a different type of speaker. The III just seems to be way to bright.

I may mess with it a little more but I really don't think it's for me. Thanks for your help guys.

Some people said the speaker sounds better after you use it for a few days.

Probably was a Peavey Bandit and the Behringer Vampire Lx210 ...I ddin't know about that one. Every Amp builder seems to have these modeling Amps these days .. 2x10 sounds great tho.. ..its too bad its sounds crap up loud. Awe well ..yeah either give it a little more time or take the suggestions or just get yourself a nice Tube Amp. Good luck.

WOW! Posted on 2/3 . . . gave up on 2/4

That's too bad. . . . . there are many players getting good to great tones out of these amps. Any single coil PUP is going to sound more "tinny" than a humbucker PUP. That's a first pass in tone choice. If it's a Tele as apposed to a Strat . . even more "tinny".

As for "thick" usually a VERY LITTLE "chorus" or "detune" will thicken up a tone. Just don't overdue it or you end up with . . . well . . . chorus rather that a single thick'en sound.

You've made your choice so this is more for anyone "thinking" of getting one. If you're looking for that Metal "vibrate your bones" type tone than IMHO this is not it. If you want clean, crunch and a touch of distortion with a decent tone - the mustangs can deliver.

If you get one - spend some time with it - check here for help = we are a community of players.

Blessings, Bo

Hi i bought a vox vt40+ , it had a nice tone but was ruined by a terrible hissing sound when you played a note ( lots of complaints about it on vox's forum ) . So i exchanged it for the Mustang 3, at first i was not sure of the sound either but after a bit of tweeking i can now get some great tone's out of it . Try turning the trebble down, mid & bass up a bit & not much reverb to see if it helps.

Surprised that anyone would give up within the first day. When I compare this amp to the Behringer V-ampire that I owned and the Line 6 spider III that I have owned, and the peavy vypyr that I extensively demoed, I would say that the big market modeling amps try and give an overprocessed tone that sounds like what you are listening to on your cd's after being mixed down etc.

Most of those amps really had few sounds that actually sounded like good tube amps. The Mustangs tones (and the amps that the Mustang is trying to model) have a much more full sound that includes the mids and the trebles. It's a more raw and preprocessed sound that sounds more tubelike. To me.

But to be honest, I can see how people who have gotten used to the tones on Line 6 amps would not feel quite as comfortable right away with the Mustang. Still though, the Mustang is easily the best choice for me. Great sounds at all volumes. Great sounds with single coils and with humbuckers, strat, tele and les paul.

My speaker didn't seem to need to be broken in at all (as some others have claimed.)

That's true.. you just have to get *use* to it. At first it seems strange ..but after a while you end up saying (wow, how did I think...this is IT!!).

I got home from work today and got to messing around with it again today. It sounds a bit different than yesterday. (better) I played it quite a bit last night. Maybe it was just really cold after riding home in the back of the truck in 30 degree weather yesterday, that and being brand new out of the box too. I'm getting some pretty cool tones out of it now. I'm gonna have to give it chance now. Maybe it just needed to acclimate to it's surroundings. That may sound a bit strange but it most definately sounds better today than it did when I got it home yesterday. I didn't know amps were like guitars in that respect but it seems so.
