from the USB connection or headphone out?
I am. It is terribly boomy and bassy on the low end,
and terribly fizzy on the highend. No matter what settings
I use it is HORRIBLE. The amp sounds great in the room,
but, that surely won't transfer to my DAW.

Is something wrong with my amp?

Which DAW are you using?

Have you tried different DAWs to see if the problem is consistent with all of them?

You can also play while listening to headphones plugged in to check if you get that sound from the jack.

It isn't the DAW. I have tried Sonar, Sequoia and also Nuendo.
The recorded sound is the same with all of them.

Is my amp defective?

Uh-oh. I planned on getting an MI use as a replacement recording device for a tonelab st - which sounds pretty good, actually.

Hopefully this issue can be resolved. The mustangs sound killer in the room & if that can translate to computer, win-derful.

This sounds like more of an audio card issue. First, as above, try the headphone out for sound. If it is OK - proceed, If not then your Output Op amp is defective.

Ummm . . . . you did install the Fender AISO driver and are using it - right?

If headphones are OK then go to the settings on your AUDIO CARD INTERFACE. In SONAR that is OPTIONS - AUDIO, others will have something similar.

Look at the "Latency" settings, bump them up a bit and try again, Keep bumping it up until you get a decent sound. I'm not sure how much room the FUSE software takes (if that is what you are using to interface) but it seems to take a bit more than most software.

Let me know if this fixed it - if not we can try something else or better yet - try Fender CS.

Bo

I get funny popping sounds when using Wavasaur which uses ASIO as my sound-card or whatever is probably crap ...but using Audacity I get perfectly clear sound since it doesn't require ASIO, it just records direct. Maybe try Audacity if all the ones you mentioned above are using ASIO or ASIO4ALL or whatever.

might be soundcard issue, or soundcard driver issue. I have some soundmax HD onboard card and it is pretty useless for recording under windows, no matter if I use Fender ASIO or not. I get strange buzzing sound, and it gets worse when I move a mouse or do anything on computer like open any application or move window around...
Also, when I hook up headphone out to aux in on mustang to listen to backing track on mustang, the sound is awful, buzzing, squeaking, humming...but when I use a cheapo mp3 player the sound is OK.
The funny thing is that on the same machine, under Linux using jack audio everything sounds OK, no squeaking sounds of any kind.

So, in my case it must be audio card driver (not Fender ASIO but MS driver for my card)
...just a thought...

What are the specs on your PC?

Embedded (built in) video and audio can cause problems of this kind. Particularly if it gets worse or even goes away periodically when you move or resize the window. Using add in cards for audio and video may help, but you'll want to make sure your PC has what it needs to run the DAW software. If your specs are sub par, upgrading may be your best bet.

aLinux, the pops you are getting mean you need to adjust the buffer higher in your ASIO configuration. The default is probably 512. Bump it up to about 768 and see if that helps.

Thanks - I'll do it ... I like using Dinasaur better for some reason anyhow Ty

The specs on this computer are as follows:
Intel Core 2 CPU 4400@2.00GHZ 2ghz
1GB Memory 1 terrabyte drive.

Lynx sound card.

I did install the Fender ASIO driver. I don't get any pops in my audio.
I have the Mustang set to the same latency that I had the Digidesign Eleven Rack set to.
I have never had a problem running any of these recording softwares (DAW) before.
I had an Axe-FX before the 11Rack and ran it direct into the soundcard. Never a bad
sound. The 11Rack, I ran the USB directly into my computer and never had any problems
either.

If you all are getting good recorded sounds from your Mustangs, mine must be defective.
As I said, I really dig the in the room sounds. It is just the recording that is really bumming
me out. It is completely unusable this way.

Is mine broken?

Gary

Headphones on the higher gain stuff sound just like it does
recorded... Simply horrid. Unusable mud and fizz. The clean
sounds sound simply OK. Nothing like through the speaker.

Anytime I start to add a bit of dirt or grit to the sound, it
simply falls to pieces and just sounds BAD.

Gary

Edit. I just tried disabling the cab sim section and using
Redwirez Cab Sims and it is simply as bad with them.

I bought it from a local shop. Do you think they will exchange it
after owning it a little over a month now?
