i really don't understand it - it sounded perfect in the shop. i get it home, i get the fizz - that's with every appliance in my house off.

however - outside elements DO exacerbate the problem.

Wow. I really hope Loren, Alan and the rest of the Fender folks are reading this. Have you tried using a good quality surge protector or, if you use one for your desktop computer - and you should, an un-interruptible power supply (UPS) sometimes called a "battery backup?

just an update on my amp....miii

i took it back to the guitar shop, plugged it in, played a guitar...err...where has the fizz gone????...i looked and felt a bit embarrassed if i'm honest - to my horror it had totally disappeared!!!!

so now i'm thinking it's an outside source causing it....i've played the amp in three places now, and in the 2 places i get this fizz fx...and i was right next to a fridge!!!

i'm gonna investigate this more when i get home.

i've not had time to check it out with my fridge turned off but i'm thinking this is the problem....or wrap amp in foil lol

Thank you! You corroborated my argument -- the fizz is in the electricity being supplied to the amp, it's not the amp!

THIS IS NOT CERTAIN! Sorry to yell. Please check out the other thread about this. It is different than the tail end distortion in which this thread was made. Many of us have moved our amps to different houses, clubs, venues, back to the guitar shop, hooked them up to surge protectors, surge suppressors, UPS, power conditioners. Not even a change in the quality of the fizz. There is a chance the the poster was in a guitar store with a lot of ambient noise and just couldn't hear the fuzz.

Either way, even if you were correct, because my four other amps don't fizz at my house, neither should the Mustang,

Hi Everybody:
Just a follow up to my earlier post. I took the plunge and got the 412 cabinet for my Mustang V and tried it at home. No hiss anymore. It sounded as good at home as it did in the store. After listening to the samples that have been provided on the Fender forums, I think that my 'hiss' had a more 'spray' like quality to it - kind of like an ocean wave hitting the shore and the note decayed. It did not have the square-sine quality that others are experiencing in these samples. So, my other cabs are now history and I will be using the Fender Mustang 412 from this point forward. In any case, I wish everyone success in resolving this issue.
