Hi Jim,I'd like to believe that they'd be replaced but I doubt it very much,we're talking about a couple of hundred dollars not thousands and Fender have been silent on the matter for a while so....I think what's in the bag is in the bag and only MAYBE future production runs may have this problem solved.I haven't gigged mine yet as I'm not 100% confident if it can convince a knowledgable audience(surf music). There's only one way to find out and that is to put it up against the "real McCoy" i.e. a real Twin or Bassman, something which I'll do next week.
Best wishes
GT

Hi, GT,

Guess you've missed the irony in my post.
Fender are not going to volunteer to replace any "duds" ,
and your post appears to suggest that you accept this !
Without data the complaints and denials will go on, and on,
ad infinitum .
As I've said earlier, I think I've just halted this Thread.

Also - IDT means I D(ont) T(hink) !

As long as nobody else sees the data - nobody else knows.

BTW - I gig live, and my M III delivers in all respects just fine.
So, I'll just Pick 'n Learn.

Bye again,
Jim

Well, I just got the new MIII home and gave it a quick run through. There is no fizz anywhere it shouldn't be even without updating to the latest firmware!
This is with gains set high, straight out of the box presets.
Very cool! :D
I will follow up with more later.

Hi Driver3,

Well done ! That's what you do, if you've got a problem.
And you did'nt crib about it, just brought it back.
That's using your warranty and user rights. :D
Where are you located ? - (if that's Ok to ask).

Jim

I'm in central Florida
Also. if the serial numbers are chronological, this is a slightly earlier amp.
I think it's a hardware/QC/component issue.

Hi,
I'm in Dublin, Ireland.
My M III is CGPK10000140- pretty early.
Sounds like your new M III is early too - and it came with v1.5 also.
Updated to v1.6 upon it's release, - it was even better !
Now everyone with problems from the start, knows what to do,
if the v1.6 update doesn'nt cure them.
Good luck and enjoy, :D

Jim

i'm going to try another one out at the store i bought it from.

if there is no fizz i'm taking it back under warranty.

i was recording with it all day thursday and friday. at one point i also got pulses noise as if from a tremolo.

but it disappeared, i'm thinking it was interference from an outside source. fridge/freezer ext harddrive etc.

The Mustang III that I had on approval had v1.5 firmware, and had no 'fizz' I could detect. I've just exchanged it for a Laney Cub 12R for a host of reasons I explained in another thread. The MIII is a cracking amp, sounds great, & I'd love to have been able to keep it and have both - but ultimately, allowing for other gear I have, the Cub fitted better with what I needed and sadly I could only afford one. I'll miss it!:(

Hi,
That's the way to do it, mwwm . Good luck.
Rockcat, sounds like you got a tried and tested one, ex Store.
Maybe users should test out their purchase in-Store if possible
and buy that one. Stores just love that - don't they !.
My M III was an early No. , just before the long waiting list set in.
Fender, too, should be happy to address any issues, and so far
appear to have done, from what we've heard.
Users should use the system, as it is, to solve their problems.
Sounds like a big herd of Mustang is growin' out there.

Jim

Rock that Mustang, Sally !

I picked up a Mustang III recently. It was a floor model as they had no new ones in the box. I returned it a few days later for a new one in the box. Unfortunately the new one has the dreaded "fizz". I loaded the new firmware successfully and the utilities says that version 1.6 is loaded. The update did not cure the fizz at all. My only option would seem to be to return the amp for a refund. Both amps came with version 1.3 loaded and were made in November 2010. I'm assuming that there is nothing out there to fix this amp.

Hi Harmony,

Take it back and ask for the old floor model back - that you were happy with !
Seriously though - insist on testing any replacement on the spot., as you
now know what to listen for. The new one in the box, having v1.3 from new,
seems odd. But the original floor model had v1.3, and it sounded Ok ?.
If it did, you know what a good one sounds like - just great !.
Good luck.

Jim

Well I took the replacement amp back to GC yesterday. The first one I had was still there so I gave it a quick ckeck. It has the "fizz" also, but not as bad. There were three kids 10 ft. away bangin' away on a competitors modeler so it was a little tough to hear. I opted for a refund. I really wanted to have the Mustang III amp work for me. It's a great amp especially for the price. I'm going to check in periodically to see if this problem gets remedied in the future. When new production units are "fizzless" I'll buy one. Bob

Hi Harmony,

Well, you tried, and things were not much different.
Sounds like all their stock are early versions.
The old one would probably respond to a V1.6 Update.
Guess you did'nt ask to test a new M III , did you ?.
These need to be checked out by GC , and Fender
advised, so no more problems get out there.
Good luck,

Jim

jimfdr, The only other amp they had was the new one in the box that I tried. That one was shipped in from another store and I took it home un-opened. It would seem that there are a number of amps out there that have the fizz. How many tries would it take to get one that doesn't seems to be the operative question. Bob

Hi Harmony,

I couldn't have put it better myself. You tried your best. !
Over to you Fender to control what's goin' down out there.
GC appear to be moving the problems around. They're big enough
to know and to demand better. Fender had better ensure that their
dealers are stocking only the latest versions, and also ensure that
any suspect units are updated and tested, or returned for attention.
It can't go on happening like this - and it wont ! - unless someone in
Fender, as we say in Ireland, " get's the finger out ".
What a great modelling amp - what a pity this is happening to it ! .
Fender, USA, please copy and take notice - or your going to have a
herd of lame Mustangs coming back home, if not already !.

Good luck, Bob, keep in touch.

Jim
