To Technicians at Fender: No one of you could come here to say anything about that obnoxious tail end distortion in my MustangII and MustangIII? Are you trying to solve it in future firmware updates? Or that tricky circuit design is to maintain? Thanks in advance,
Moz

@joemoz

I have been advised by Fender that they're working on it. You will find reference to it in other threads.

Thank you, KenB5.
I've noticed other threads about this, but no one asking for an answer by Fender team. And in that threads are other people who loves that old and tired tube's very well emulated crappy sound...

@joemoz

I sent Fender an email regarding the distortion of notes as they decay (buzzy) and they replied back that they are working on it. I would imagine that other users have asked Fender about it back channel as well.

I think there is a lot of variability as to the equipment players use, the presets they use, the style they play etc. that effects how they perceive the sound of notes as they decay ... to say nothing about their ears. People that play fast or people that use lots of gain or various forms of distortion my not notice it at all or not as much.

Is that what old tubes sound like ... yeah i think your rite eh ..that is the sound .. :) I thought I've heard that sound before somewhere and its neat if they did emulate it ... but I hope they release a patch for the people who want it Crystal Clear and Clean and NOT make it mandatory through every Firmware update and on-wards cause I like certain characteristic things kept *original* (o:

I can see years from now people chasing after the original Mustang sound already ... The Blackface of 2010 and early 2011.... but I know what yous mean and it will be great to release a patch to make everyone happy .I'm glad to hear they're working on it. Fender really does listen with this line. :wink:

Hi aLinux.
In fact that would be nice we can choose the age of the tubes. I think it will be the first dsp amp do that. Let's wait for.
Best regards.

That's for sure ... its been unheard of until now. Whether its a defect or not ..I think if I had that sound removed ... the Amp would sound like any other Digital SS Amp ..but lets
hope not.

There's no doubt in my mind that Fender is aware of that issue and was even before the official release. Now, what will they do? Nobody knows but, if they have , say, 0,5% or 1% of customer feedback complaining about this issue, I suppose nothing will be done.

To me, it is not a major issue but in some circumstances it's really annoying and then it really IS a major issue. Here's another short clip I made to demonstrate the issue, using an accoustic/electric Takamine EF349C (the preamp that's in is a Graph-Ex) in a Mustang I using a twin reverb preset. Here again we can clearly hear that fizzy tone.

Here's the clip:

@stratquebec

Judging by your sound files ... with my Mustang II ... the distortion on decay is 2 or 3 times as bad.

Sounds damn good to me :D .. If nobody knew what to look for, I can't see anyone finding anything wrong with that clip ..It sounds professional and great quality to me and I love that sound... but yeah...die-hard tone ears will probably be able to say something..but I barely hear it ....or if i do i like it. Nice recording! :mrgreen:

Well that's no good news. Very sorry to hear that. Have you had an opportunity to try another one?

Yep, most Fender Mustang amp lovers will never complain about anything. I'm a loyal Fender custommer for years and I know this is a VERY good company and I know too that If someone is not satisfied with his Mustang, it should be easy to get a refund from the retailer.

But! It's not an excuse for Fender to do nothing about it.

It's the same to me, as i have always and still do own several Fender Amps!
I do notice that fuzzy sound in even any range and setting and it does not only affect clean sounds.
Sorry, but this is definitely not a question of 'taste' or some kind of 'old-tubes-style' - it's a serious failure.

As long as there is no official solution announced, my personal review of the Fender Mustang Amps is disappointing.

Best thing to do, if you're really concerned, is contact Fender directly as the message boards aren't always the best place for answers to these sort of things, I`ve found.
