From what I've read they talk more about the missing and broken features on the Vypyr that supposedly been promissed from Peavey the past few yrs ....like a computer interface for instance.

I thought the Vypyrs had USB on the 75-watt and up units?

well, of course they will trash mustang (or any other brand), it's perfectly normal because they own something else. but who cares. :)
A mustang III owner can also trash mustang I for being so small and weak and boxy but I like my M1 better than someone else's M3. Or maybe I'm just jealous of M3 owners because my wife would kill me if I brought home a 100W amp for practice so I had to buy the smallest one ;)

................... lol @ denisk ... but soo true :)

musicmaster ... from what I've read ... Yeah...I guess they have some sort of USB support but they were all complaining about something ..I cant find the original thread in here ..but I think whoever originally posted it...got me interested ..so I went diggin... and read from the main Peavey Forum nobody could figure out howto record or something like that....and they go-on to say Peavey's prommised whatever-it-was ..but hasn't delivered nothing in last 2 yrs. Something like that.

Well, originally Line 6 was infamous for taking years to deliver the Workbench for Variax. And was very slow to update the Variax firmware. And they STILL haven't updated the Variax modeling tech in any significant way after 7 years!

Switch to Old Fender: They notoriously failed to support the original G-DECs in any significant way. No software, not even SMF jam tunes, no sharing site, no star presets, nothing, nada. It was all DIY. Pathetic.

Flash forward to Fender Today: They took a lot of heat on the original G-DEC support failures. Mainly from ME! Shane got the message loud and clear, and we're all winners because of it.

Fender announces the new Mustangs at NAMM: They're already arriving in stores as they spoke! Not vaporware, not unobtainium promised forth for "Q3".

Fender delivers FUSE with the units. Fender bundles a music recording app. Fender bundles additional modeling/EFX app with plug-in/post-recording capability. Fender updates firmware and software quickly and efficiently. Fender brings community site for sharing, and has star presets and new jam trax.

In other words, Fender took a few pages out of what Line 6 did right with Guitarport. Deep support.

The only thing lacking now are learning apps. With both G-DEC 3 and Mustang having some sort of jam trax capability, the obvious next step is for Fender to partner with a music teaching system and bundle some lessons in with the products, and offer a monthly training program for guitarists.

Props to Fender for coming so far in such a short time. And if you think Fender is dropping the ball in any significant way, just read that Peavey forum by comparison!

I agree ... and noticing Peavey Vypyr has 24 presets and 12 amp models ..they took from that as well...but its OK ..cause I'd say they improved it...effects wise and modeling wise, but some sort of teach-me-howto-use-this... would be def. a nice addition about now.

Yeah, they have such a ripe teaching platform now, including the ability to sound like any guitarist's guitar on Earth at the touch of a button, it would be a shame to not exploit it.

Of course the Peavy Folks are Trashing the Mustang I. But there is no question that they can't touch the Bassman Amp model on the Mustang 1. There is also no question that the Vypyr's seem overprocessed and built more for the metal guitarist.

The vintage tones on the Mustang will blow the Vypyr out of the water. My Mustang III's presets and Amp models completely blow away anything that the Vypyr has to offer.

The Mustang I is a simple amp that does a heck of a lot for the low price. But I chose to buy it for my son over any of the Line 6 or Peavy or Vox stuff at a comparable price. It is simply a better sounding amp for vintage tones for a learning kid. My III gets the best sound (to my ears) for vintage tones with easy on board editing of any of those amps.

Peavy folks will defend their brand, and that's just fine with me. I chose the Mustang Series for me and for my son, and I haven't even had one second of buyer's remorse. I compared them to any comparably priced amps and even more expensive amps and absolutely love the I and the III.
