Can someone from Fender comment on their policy regarding third-party software written for the mustang? In particular opensource code?

I'd like to do something like fuse, but more lightweight, not using things that look like knobs (and use sliders instead) and NOT using the WPF which feels clunky. And release it as opensource so others can work on it.

Is fender ok with this kind of thing? Is there someone I could talk to about it?

From what I've seen there are at least two projects mentioned on this forum already.. and one already released the source and binary ..Fender already said they can't provide the API ...

I think it would be a big plus for fender to have people writing software for their amps, especially opensource.

Let's hope they'll support that...

And some thoughts from a FENDER rep would be appreciated here...

Like aLinux said above, I am making an open source replacement for FUSE. It is made for Linux but since all libraries are available also for Mac and Windows it should be fairly easy to port it to those platforms.
All the code is available on https://bitbucket.org/piorekf/plug/.
As to the sliders see this: https://bitbucket.org/piorekf/plug/issue/7/dials-vs-sliders.

Thanks man - I'm actually a fan of your work. :) I ported some of it to C# already (mustang.h and mustang.cpp) and made a "lightweight" mustang amp modder. I used to code w/qt at least 10 years ago!

I would like to hear from Fender on how they feel about this as I'd like to release it as opensource as well.

Nice to hear that it is useful also as a code and not only as a whole program.

It's not ready to be available yet. Right now you can select an amp and set the settings, then load it into the amp.

Since Fender apparently doesn't respond on this forum often, I'm going to email fender directly about permission to distribute the program as I don't want to step on any toes.

Yes, it's for windows.
