Hi

I really hope that someone from Fender or anyone really can help me with this. I recently bout a Line 6 spider 4 and shortly after found out about the mustand and the Fender Fuse software. I then returned the spider 4 and exchanged it for a Fender Mustang 1. Now that I have the Mustang I am getting an excessive buzzing when not striking the strings with most of the settings. I read around and some people said that it is because im using the metal 2000 or the American 90's amp models or because I have been using the compressor pedel, but then that means that I can't use any effects or the amp model I want without the buzzing hum, and that doesn't make sense. Is there someway to get distortion effects or anything other than a really clean effect without having the horrible excessive feedback buzzing issues I've been getting.
This amp can get a much greater range and variance of effects than the spider 4 but with the spider 4 I never got any buzz or feedback or humming or anything no matter what setting or effect I had on.

Please help!

Thanks

Hello,
I have had the same issue, not just with the Mustang, but with all of my amps. The root cause of my issue is that I have some shielding work to do on my strat. In the short term, using a noise suppressor helps to reduce or remove the noise almost completely. On my Line 6 amp, I would invoke the built in noise suppressor. On my Digitech RP 250 pedal, I also would set up the noise suppressor. And now that I have a Mustang, I have found that I do the same thing. Go to the advanced amp settings while in Fuse, and you'll see it on the amp panel. Most presets have it defaulted to off or low. I have changed mine to med. or high for each preset and then saved those settings back to the amp. Works great.
One other item that I found was when I have my laptop plugged back into the Mustang via the aux port (for playing drum tracks, etc), there is a very high level of noise. I haven't quite resolved this issue, but it is something else to consider.

Good luck.
Chris

Even with clean amps and settings, without high gains or distortion stomps, there are a garbled noise when the sound is fading out. I have Mustang III now (and a Mustang II ) and both have the same background noise, only audible at the very end of sound.
Mustang III is a great amp, even with that uneasy noise. Maybe in future firmware update they could fix this.

Thanks for brigging that up ... the fade-out effect is still there eh... and yeah ..its most likely your pickups causing the buzz/hum ... you can try shielding or get a set of noiseless pickups for an almost dead-to-quiet experience, I love (Fender Vintage Noiseless) pickups myself.. and there cheap ..around 100 bucks - Wire them to 1 Meg
Volume for crisp/clear tone...I haven`t tried them with 250/500k pots but I believe that`s where they might become Toneless to most ppl....allthough I am going to try it pretty soon on another guitar here... oh yeah and I bypassed the Tone Pots so no resistor there neither..but I`m going to try that next time as well...yeah i ramble on
:)

The biggest issue I have with my Mustang II is the buzzy note decay ... the fade out effect as you say. Refer to the following thread for more discussion of the problem.

I have just encountered the exact same problem, last night the amp worked like a dream as it has done since I got it , tonight- annoying buzzing sound and interference on even the most quiet of settings, checked with both my guitars and even the humbuckers are getting the same buzzing sound, the leads were checked too.

how can this be explained?

If you're not just talking about the typical Mains hum thing -

I had an issue where I plugged my laptop into the AUX port and heard all kinds of noise. I replaced the A/C adapter of the laptop and resolved the issue. I only discovered it because the noise went away when I was running on battery.

Good luck.

Hi,

I have had issues with the lead when connected to the AUX input as well as having the USB connected form the laptop to the amp. I am just using regular cables, and the computer is near the amp in the music room ...

I work around it by moving the cables around, it only seems to pick up noise in certain positions.
