http://www.rebate-central.com isn't even a legitimate domain. I called MF and they are playing dumb, saying the Mustang III rebate was for the TWO BUTTON FOOT SWITCH!!!! I went around and around with them, they are clueless. I am sending my Mustang III back to them today. I'm sick of being jerked around by MF and Fender. I am buying a different brand from a different company.

No problem, I heard back from them today and they are saying 8-12 weeks for delivery. My Mustang III is already gone. Went with a Rivera instead!

Hey everybody,

I work at Musician's Friend. I'm sorry to hear about the problems and confusion regarding this rebate. For any of you unsure about the status of your rebate, please email me with your order number and I'll be happy to look into this for you. As long as your purchase did qualify for the rebate, I will make sure that you are taken care of.

My email is chris.baker@musiciansfriend.com

Chris Baker

Well, I pretty much gave up on getting the footswitch, figured there were more important battles to fight these days. However, lo and behold, my footswitch did actually show up at my doorstep this morning!!

I did contact Fender, but they told me to contact Musician's Friend about it. I never did, but i got it anyways, so there you go.

Wow, congratulations, I hope you enjoy it as much as I have mine! I have to say this is the first success story I've heard of any fulfillment of that offer--should give some hope to everyone else still waiting by their mailboxes.

When I first decided to purchase my MIII, I was bummed out because by the time I made up my mind, I had just missed the window for this offer; but in the end, I signed up at GC and was emailed a $75 off $349 or more coupon, which ended up being a better deal for the MIII + 4 button footswitch. (GC didn't have them in stock either, but inadvertently sold me a G-DEC foot switch which worked fine until eventually I returned it for the "real" Mustang foot switch.)

I have to say, I'll probably be a bit more leery of such promotions going forward based on this thread (hopefully now that there's some MF representation here, they're at least looking into why there are so many disgruntled customers; setting wrong expectations? poor follow up communications? poor supply from Fender? mismanaging distribution logistics? outsourced to wrong outfit for follow through? ...?)

PITA

Honestly, I think those freebie offers and rebate promotions always seem to go wrong somehow.

I bought a Squier '51 back in September of '05 that was supposed to come with a free Fender Standard gig bag for Strats/Teles. At the time, my order seemed to be in limbo, so i called to find out what the deal was, and they told me they were waiting on the gig bags or some such before they shipped any guitars out. I wasn't going to wait, so i told them to ship the guitar out without it.

Never did get the gig bag, but i didn't really care, i hate gig bags.

Nice to see a MF rep here addressing the switch problem.

elskeeper,

I'm glad to hear that you got your footswitch. I'm not sure exactly what the deal is with these footswitches, although I work with Total Brand Delivery (the company that backs rebates we offer) when any issues arise. They are few and far between, and if they do, we are happy to get them corrected. You shouldn't have to worry about any of these offers; if there are any problems with getting the rebate through them, we make a strong point to back it up on our end.

In regards to your comment about the free gig bag; that is actually something very different from a rebate. Those are actually fulfilled at the same time as the normal item as a freebie on your order. The system by default will pair the two together so that people can't order a backorder, get the free gift, then cancel the backorder. Our old order management system had a problem however where there wasn't a priority on one over the other though, so a free gift could also hold the normal item back. This has since been corrected by our new system we upgraded to.

I do understand that the free gig bag offer is quite different from a rebate offer, Chris, just pointing out freebie promos and rebates often seem to have unforeseen complications. My comment was not intended as a dig on Musician's Friend. I have almost always had very good service from you.

I did not and do not mean to criticize the handling of either situation, and I do appreciate that you have taken the time to resolve the situation publicly.

elskeeper,

I'm sorry if my response seemed defensive. That was not my intent at all. I just wanted to shed some light from the MF side and clear up any confusion you may have. I'm glad to hear the service you've received from us has been helpful!

For anyone else glancing over this thread that are wondering where your footswitch is, please email me. Again, I'm happy to check on the status and make sure that one is going to you. It sounds like it may be that these are just hitting doors now, but if you need more information, let me know.

Sincerely,

That is correct. I just heard back from them today myself. They just closed the program and are currently working with Fender to get in all the footswitches for everybody. They said that everyone should be receiving theirs soon.

We are sorry, but Fender has notified of a back-order on this item until July 19,2011. We are sorry for the delay and will get your product to you ASAP.

Thank You,

Hey Richard,

It sounds like Fender did not have enough of these in stock footswitches to send to Total Brand Delivery for all the rebates. As soon as Fender has more available to send then you should expect to receive your footswitch. Sorry for any inconvenience.

July 28th? really? That is so beyond lame. MF should offer a rebate or credit for the value of the footswitch. I've been waiting over two months and now I have to wait another 2 months? Geez..
