Stopped by Guitar Center this evening, and looked around, and hoped there would be a Mustang III sitting around, since I've heard on the fender forums that they have been shipped and seen in other GC's. Well, not at the one in Birmingham, AL. The guy kinda looked at me dumb, and said it would be at least a month after they were available from Fender. But, Some GC's have them already. I think this guy is just clueless, but that's just me. I'd have spent $300 tonight if they had one.

You should be able to use the web to see if it's in your local store. You go to the GC web site, search for the amp you want and then select "Find In Store". It should ask you for a zip code at that point.

First...
From what I have heard, there will be an initial shipment at GC stores within the next week, however, if you don't grab one from the initial shipment, the restock always takes a bit more time.

Fender ships everything that they can off the bat, to get the buzz going, but it will take a while for the manufacturing to catch up and import more items to ship. I would assume that if you don't grab one of the first ones in your local store, you might have to wait 4-6 weeks to see them reappear.

Second...
It is my absolute Pet Peeve when stores hire employees that don't seem to know or care about new products. EVERY time that I have gone to Guitar Center to ask a technical question about a product that I was looking at buying, the employee ALWAYS goes on the GC website to look for the answer or the product website. I am always polite and inform the employee that I too have looked on the website and that is why I am asking the question "in store."

I really wish that Guitar Center employees knew how and when they get things in stock.

In fact, I usually notice that Guitar Center employees are not very willing or motivated to help, and often talk to me like they are the best musician I will ever meet, and I should consider myself blessed just to hear their opinion of the product that I ask about.

There are a couple of much smaller music stores closer to my house, but none of them really stock any fender stuff, but they are nice, kind, not condescending at all, just excited to help anyone who needs it. I really wish GC could train their employees to act like the folks at the local mom and pop stores.

Sorry about the rant. Too much time on my hands on my day off I guess.
