So I recieved a Fender Mustang 1 for christmas and I am pretty pleased with it. Well worth the $100 without the software! I have a virus that is blocking my add/delete programs right now so I haven't been able to download the Fuse software. Am I really missing out on the capabilities of this amp? I mean, I know the software with let me tweak the the effects and all but am I missing out on a whole slew of other great amps and effects?

It definitely opens it up and for me makes it more fun to use and being able to modify custom sounds on the computer was one of the reasons i bought my Mustang II.

What virus have you got btw ?, i got a nasty bout of System tool 2011 the other day which at first looked worse than it actually was.

A bit off topic but if it System tool 2011 download "malwarebytes anti-malware) and then look on you tube for systemtool 2011 removal and there is a video that gives you the code to activate the program to allow you to remove it..... if its not that then good luck :)

Just on amp models alone you miss out on the 57 Champ, 65 Princeton, 65 Deluxe Reverb and the 70's British (Marshall).

I have no idea what virus I have. It may not even be a virus. I assumed it was a virus because I bought my son an MP3 player (generic brand) for X-mas and the instructions said that when I plugged the MP3 player into the computer, it should automatically start running for me to install the program but nothing happened. I didn't even try the fuse software.

This is what comes up when I try to get into control panel / add - delete.

---------------------------
C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe
---------------------------
Windows cannot find 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search.

OK

Fuse is fun ..but now that i have saved PRESETS I dont really use it as much.

Avast is a good FREE virus proggy ... One i'm using is Ad-Aware .. only cost me 8 bucks
since i signed up with one of there Netflix offers ..but it keeps the computer clean ..but
urs looks like a missing file ...if you use Vista Home i can give you that file ..else somebody else can help you with the file that's hidden or deleted ..check and see if you see it (it could be infected with some code or just deleted).. lemme know.

Thanks for that offer alinux but I have Windows XP.

Pbassbob, Thanks for that link. I'll look throught it and see if I can figure out what's going on.

Sounds like I need to get this resolved so I can use this thing to it's true potential. Especially if it has more Fender amps. Maybe it's just me but as it stands without the software, the Fender amp models are MUCH better than the rest on the amp. Can't wait to be able to throw some virtual pedals in front of them!

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

1. Put the Windows XP CD ROM disk in the CD ROM drive.
2. Click Start, and then click Run.
3. Type expand X:\i386\rundll32.ex_ c:\windows\system32\rundll32.exe in the Open box, where X is the letter of your CD ROM Drive.
4. Restart the computer.

This is from the Microsoft web site.

Excellent ... good to hear ...and if you dont have, install a good Malware proggy... Dont; depend on windows defender ..its only about 50-60% good.

I'm using AVG now. I run scans almost daily. I was able to download the fuse software. This is pretty cool. I'm not going to bother asking questions yet. I need to spend more time experimenting. I was able to download some settings of others though. This amp is pretty trick!!
