I teach guitar, and a student just brought in a Mustang I. How do I work this thing? Right now, all I want is to know is how to turn off the effects and the reverb/delay. I just want a plain, unprocessed sound.

Thanks,
Joe

Just turn the 2 effects knobs to off, if they are already off turn them up then back to off.

Thats all I know to do unless its plugged into a computer with the fuse software, then you can turn the effects off with that. I have a Mustang II and turning the knobs to off works for me.

ask him if the firmware has been updated. I think it comes with version 1.4 and they recently put out version 1.6. it fixs some bugs in the amp.

You mean I have to hook the amp up to a computer in order to change the sounds? Is it possible to use this amp without a computer?

I wanted the same thing when I got mine. The pre-sets on the 57 deluxe and on the bassman both have some effects on them. I remember the cleanest sounding 57 deluxe preset had reverb and echo on it. Connected to Fuse, you can turn those things off and save them as a new preset. It takes about 3 seconds.

He's correct - maybe turn to the 65 Twin first if you mean distortion effect is still on.
You dont have to connect to a computer Fuse thing.

I figured it out. I downloaded and installed FUSE, and hooked up the amp. I then scrolled through the 24 presets and deleted all effects. Now I've got 24 usable sound.

Glad you got it worked out. These really are awesome amps once you get to know it a little.

Yes, the Mustang seems to be an awesome amp. Only I don't know why Fender chooses such sludgy presets. (Perhaps I ended up with an amp that someone had already tinkered with.)

Update your Firmware to latest. I'm almost definite they changed them from my original
1.4 Firmware. Amp sounds even better since I did but maybe I'm hearing things..hope not

I thought the pre-sets were pretty silly too but, it forced me to learn how to use FUSE to get what I wanted.
