Installed Amplitube and Fender Asio. Followed Asio settings suggested by Fender and have my Mustang II connected via usb. I have the exact settings which appear on their support page (http://www.fender.com/support/articles/ ... d-playback) accept for whatever reason, my pc's left and right output channels become disabled and I can't hear any sound from my computer when using the asio settings. The field for those channels say Not Connected. I have a Sigma Tel C Major Audio card which is stock for my pc. When I go to the panels button to get the Asio settings, I have the yellow "Beyond Logic" key showing up by the Sigma Tel audio card indicating its unavailable. Input level is fine as I see the meters working when I strum. The only way to hear amplitube in standalone mode is by using Direct X and I have to use a very high sampling rate and buffer size to reduce latency. Doesn't sound that good though. Just curious as to what could be causing my output channels to be disable when using these Asio settings. Maybe it's a conflict as I have Asio4All v2 already installed? I use Asio4All for Guitar Rig and it runs fine with no latency and doesn't disable my output channels.

I believe you have the same issue I've spent 2-3 hours pulling my hair out about last night. I don't have a solution I can only tell you why it is the way it is. When you select Fender ASIO as your input, it is also the output (although it outputs absolutely nothing). How Amplitube is useful, therefore, is beyond me. I could get it to recognize the signal (can see the green volume meter shifting when strumming) but the program is meant for real-time processing, it's not like it can save anything.. Same thing with Ableton, you can record but you can't play back unless you export the file or change the audio settings from Fender ASIO to your speakers.

I don't mean to badmouth Fender, I love the Mustang II too as well but the way direct recording is set up seems counter-intuitive..

Thanks taso89! I uninstalled the Fender ASIO and tried ASIO4All. Same results. I used a different input device, a Boss GS-10 and used it's driver with ASIO and it worked with Amplitube. However, I needed to output the audio to the GS10 and was able to hear Amplitube through the GS-10 speakers and/or headphones. I agree about it being counter intuitive, the entire marketing campaign pushes the fact you can record with the mustang and Ableton. Maybe there's a driver glitch, I don't know, I'm new to some of this stuff. I haven't tried or installed Ableton yet, one thing at a time right now. Maybe a call to Fender's TSL would expedite our issues quicker. Just a few days ago they helped me out with another issue I was having. There's another thread near this one which suggests using Wavasaur. You could try that as it's suppose to work. I'm going to start with Ableton and maybe call TSL if I have issues with it. I'll let you know what I find out. I'm not going to drive myself nuts with Amplitube, it's so watered down and I'll probably not use it much. I just want my Mustang, Asio and Ableton to work together. I love my Mustang II and Fuse, and would hate for them not to work with any DAW's because of this ASIO thing.

I've gotten Ableton to work and recorded from my Mustang I with it but it's a bit cumbersome to use. I had been using Reaper before I got my Mustang I and it works better for me for recording with the Mustang than Ableton.

Here's a screenshot of the settings in Reaper.

Here is what my Asio settings look like.

Thanks Pictoratus! All of my settings are as they should, accept my output channels keep getting disabled using the Fender ASIO and I don't know why. Taso89, I finally worked with Ableton today after I was able to wrap my head around its 6 million features. I'm actually starting to like it. I did find a work around where I can record and listen to my mustang simultaneously without having to switch device settings. As I mentioned in my last post, I have a Boss GS-10 desktop effects processor. I guess this is the 3rd party device Fender means. Anyway, I run my mustang's II 1/8 headphones out to the GS-10's guitar input. Connect the GS-10 via usb to my laptop, choose the GS-10 driver, and select the GS-10 as my input and output device in audio settings. I listen to my Mustang, Ableton and all audio from the GS-10s headphones out. I have cables everywhere, but it's working. Would rather use less cables but I'm happy with this for now. Maybe try this method with any other interface you have around. I plan on shooting an e-mail to Fender TSL about this soon.

This is a major problem that I hope Fender and/or Ableton can resolve soon.

Emailed Fender TSL, here's their response. Will let you know the results when I try it. I also updated my drivers for my soundcard as well thinking it may help.

With ASIO, there are certain OEM (original equipment manufacturer) drivers that are more or less functional/stable with the ASIO driver format. We would suggest that you try uninstalling and re-installing the Fender Universal ASIO driver. This may correct the behavior you are seeing. One other thing you can also try would be to enable all devices in the ASIO driver window. This is normally not done. But it may make your Output hardware “happier” in this case. Please let us know how it goes. Thanks very much.

I had this exact same issue. One of the things that aggravated me most was the asio error message, "Computers hate you." heh. Indeed, sometimes they do.

I have no idea if this will work for others but here's how I fixed mine:

I had been using my on-board sound card and I was getting the same exact problem as those that have posted here. I could record through the asio driver but I couldn't hear the backing tracks or what I was playing.

First I tried the asio4all driver and that gave me the same problems so I figured it was either the fender amp (I have a mustang 1) or my sound card. I had an extra sound blaster live laying about so I put it in my computer and installed all the drivers. In ableton I turned the test tone on, enabled the asio as driver type and then I tried the fender asio driver but that didn't work so I turned on the asio4all in the audio device. I clicked things on and off until I had a test tone. I was then able to modify the asio buffer size until I didn't have any more glitching in my test tone.

When I recorded my guitar with the backing track everything worked as I had hoped it would from the start.

So in short my fix was:
add a hardware sound card that supports asio.
add the asio4all driver
configure

I hope this helps!

Thanks Johncub. I'm new to PCs and bought a used PC specifically for my mustang and fuse, etc. So the driver and ASIO stuff is new to me, but I'm learning. My sound card is a stock Sigmatel C Major audio card. From what I can tell, the last updated driver for it is from 2005 and that's what I have and I've been looking for ways to upgrade it. No luck so far.

What I noticed last night was that every time I deactivated my mustang as the input in my asio settings, my sound card would magically become active again. What I get when it's deactivated are those yellow key like symbols by my card listed in the asio settings every time I active the mustang as my input. Apparently the key like symbols mean my card is unavailable or deactivated. I'm wondering now if there's issues with the fender Asio and mustang.

Those yellow key symbols are exactly what I saw and they indicate that something isn't working right. If you hold your mouse over one it will give an error message that will end with "Computers hate you."

I also updated my drivers for my onboard sound card in hopes that would bring it to life but in the end I think it was adding the hardware card that fixed everything. Hope you get yours fixed soon because it really is pretty cool to be able to use the ableton software the way it is intended.
