Anyone else notice distortion on bass tones at low volume> Or, after the bass notes have been ringing, especially with harmonies?

I think I know what you mean... very subtle rite? like 3/4's after its starts to decay the note? .. its normal. You wont hear that in a recording or band situation. I actually love
it - reminds me of real tubes :D breaking up at low volume...which is unheard of, until these sweet Mustangs came about :)

yeah, I was thinking maybe it was the amp model. Not what I want when using a clean channel though.Maybe some dif. settings in fuse will change that.

Well, we are all different. But using the 65 Twin...I turn everything OFF to Zero ..Crank the MASTER then start adding a little VOLUME .. I get a really good sound that way and it seems to be balanced just right. Very quiet w/ the buzz but its still sorta there...but I love it. You have good ears!

....................... lol .. true .. Well, it might go away with some setup in fuse. Try Bias and Sag settings as well.

Ya. Exactly. I think this is the nature of the beast. Probably a little DSP issue.

In real life, a Twin is THE cleanner amp on earth. You'll never hear that distortion in the decay of a ringing note with a Twin. Never. But, a Twin is a little more expansive then a Mustang

So you pay for what you get but again, I think this is not true with the mustang. You get way more for what you paid! The Mustang I and II are not far from being a toy, but what a toy!

It's not gonna last for ever and life is short so : be happy and play your toy Bluegrasskid85 8) !

ehh, I've already got a solid state(Roland BC-30). The highs don't sound as good, but at least it's clean. I'll just use that until I get a good tuber(Thinking about getting a 65 twin custom 15 reissue), or another good practice amp. If you guys have any advice on good amps I'd love to hear it. I started a thread in the modern amp section. Thinking about the twin, a peavey classic 50, and someone suggested the rebel 30 which also looks nice.

You have the choice. Depends of your needs and budget. There's so many. To gig or not to gig is the question. I have a '65 Princeton Reverb Reissue (PRRI) wich is very nice as a practice amp. Maybe not the best for gigs though. To gig, a Deluxe Reverb Reissue (DRRI) or a Super-Sonic 22 would be nice I think.

Definitely not gigging now, but hope to be. Sp when I buy, unless I am getting a cheap practice amp, I want the real deal. For cheap practice amp, under 5 hundo. For my next nice amp I will prob be spending under 2 G's.

As you know you can find a good used tube amp under 500, ready to rock.

If I was in the market today for a new amp, for gigs or for practice, I would need something that I can carry easily. The SuperSonic 22 would be a serious candidate.

Well said 8)
Same here... I finally picked up my new speaker to try with the Tube Amp, but i'd like
to really try it with the Mustang first ..only I dont know how since the Stang has three
wire...i dont want to hook the speaker up backwards and fry it ... lol

Yeah i think it is certain amp models, the twin reverb, and princeton do it for sure, and the deluxe. I hope some people from fender check this out and maybe send out a fix.

Distorts low sustaining bass tones: Fender twin, super-sonic, fender deluxe, Fender deluxe reverb, Fender princeton, and British 70's.
The best clean amps have the dirtiest clean models. What a shame.

Does not: Fender champ, 60's and 80's British.

I have this too ... it can't be adjusted out ... and the distortion definitely shows up in recordings. I don't know what the cause is ... but IMO it's a deal breaker and a real disappointment ... I couldn't recommend the Mustang to anyone until this problem gets fixed ... hopefully it's just a software tweak.

Not trying to argue ...
I'd like to know more on HOW they achieved this cool effect - I happen to love it and haven't heard other Amps re-create this sustainy sound. From what I've heard, It doesn't show up in any recordings on Youtube or elsewhere that I've thus far. It seems to come after the recorder... then again, I'm still waiting on headphones, they usually pick-up subtleties better. That said, being a cheap Fender Amp w/ tons of effects, etc ... I'd expect some sort of noise... but all-in-all, I find the Mustang incredibly quiet and tight sounding, unless you really open up the Gain, etc... then it grabs some unneeded frequencies .. but its still MUCH better then my Tube Amp which picks up baby monitors or something once in a while.

On a side-note:
If Fender does release a so-called patch ..please make it available as a third-party download and NOT absolute for ALL Mustang owners.
