I've been gigging 2 nights a week for about 5 months with my Mustang III. I'm happier with this rig than any other amp I've owned (Hot Rod Deluxe, Blues Jr. Vox VT50 etc...).
I do think I'm going to put an EQ in the FX loop though. I can get 95% of the way to perfect tones but I really wish it had a parametric per patch.

So much fun. I use it with a variax 300 electric and with one guitar cable and amp I can go any direction. Acoustic? no problem! Tele? no problem! Les paul, rickenbacker etc... all going through the amp you would expect. Not perfect sound but good enough to fool an audience and so much fun to get at the turn of a dial!

Also have the V300 I play with the III. You can spend months in all those variations between the 50 guitars/acoustics/resonators and the infinite amp tweaking!

A qualified Yay on the MIII, even though I returned it after 3 weeks and went for a small tube amp instead. I liked the tones, look, size & weight, upgradeability, & decent Celestion speaker - but it missed some important features that I needed.

I may still consider buying an MIII in the future, IF the following changes are made by Fender to make the amp more versatile:

1. 4-button footswitch included as standard (necessity for gigging IMHO)
2. Extn speaker outs for 8/16 Ohm so it can be put through a 2x12 or 4x12 cab if needed
3. Direct balanced line out for connection to the PA mixer

Then it would cover all the bases for me as a flexible gigging amp.

Rich

Yay....Ive got a MII and MV...for the money I've spent...couldn't be happier.
The MV holds its own quite well against the other guitarists 60W 2x12 Fender DeVille.
Plus while hes jerkin around with a pedal board I'm pretty much just pluggin in and playin.

For me, they are so close to perfect for my playing lifestyle. Inside of a month I have to play weddings, rock clubs, jazz combos, lessons, and random gigs. The amount of equipment to emulate AC/DC, The Beatles, The Clash, Stone Temple Pilots, Wes Montgomery, BB King, my solo stuff, etc. makes for tap dancing and back-breaking. Along with my TC Electronic Nova System and a Mustang III (despite having to do some tricky things to avoid the FIZZ (forget recording, or playing solo jazz guitar, or clean tones), I really have no excuse now to find the right tone.

Fender can still kiss mine for their disgraceful response, but that's what we get living in a corporate society. Other than that, unless you decide to go on tour with Jeff Beck or record an album with it, it should do the job. I was a tube-nazi until now. Tone is in the fingers remember (although a good amp is needed to allow that great-playing-finger-tone to get through to the ears!)
