See ..those heavy tones are amazing eh. Sounds like your playing through a Massive
stack I bet. I'd love to have tweed Mustang myself :)

Yay,i have had my mustang I a little over a week and i'am tweaking it a lot and finding some good tones from it,i like the metal 2000 and also tweaked the fender twin and bassman to sound much better then the factory presets,i also compared the metal 2000 to my behringer v-tone gdi21 analog amp modeling pedal and the the mustang was very close to it in the smooth analog type warmth and distortion that i like, the mustang sounds much better than my line 6 spider III 15(the digital modeling sounds harsh with the metal and insane amp models compared to the mustangs metal 2000) and it has a smoother distortion and a warmer tone than my vypyr 15,fender hit a home run with the mustang series of modeling amps in my opinion.

A qualified Nay.

Mustang II here.

Buzzy upon note decay on all strings irrespective of the settings and on virtually all presets, including downloaded presets and with virtually all effects as well ... it's not sustain ... it's buzz.

Poor clean tones because of the buzzy note decay. They would be more or less acceptable if the buzz was eliminated.

Fix the buzz and I'd say it's mostly a Yay. Until then I wouldn't recommend anyone buy a Mustang amp.

The amp has promise but needs more work.

This really hits on my main complaint with the Mustang II that I have - it definitely has a buzz, especially on the higher gain presets. I've wondered if something is wrong with it because very few people mention this. The CyberDeluxe I've had for 6 years has no hint of any buzziness like my Mustang has - it's punchy on the clean tones and thick and fat on the overdrives tones. I can't edit the presets via computer like the Mustang (which is great), but my CyberD is still an amazingly great amp. I had really high hopes for this line of amps to replace my aging CyberD, but I'm doubtful at this point - it's all about the tone in the end, right?. Anyone else have this problem on the MII?

I'd say a big YAY, with one big caveat...

I'd like to see fender open the platform with an API for programmers, or at least documentation for programmers.

There would probably be some cool stuff software wise from the user community if this were to happen.

I'm not asking to see the innards of the embedded software in the amp, just a documented interface to access the settings via software I might want to write.

Hi all, new guy here, not new to playing many different guitar amps since 1983, Ive had boatloads!!! I bought a Mustang 3 last week,Ill probably never be known outside of my house but I dont give a damn!! This amp is no joke! I know great tone and used to be real protective about tube amps and I gotta say, This solid state does it all in large quantities!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you are gonna check one out,IGNORE the presets!!! They are awfull!!! Take the time to tweak all the amps to your ears and you're not gonna believe how great these amps sound!!!!I wish this amp was made in the Usa and not China and it probably wouldnt survive a fall down a staircase either, but for under 300 dollars Im totally blown away! Forget Peavey,Vox,Line 6,Marshall,and every other modelling amp.!! The Mustang is here to stay!! Thanks Fender!!!

Yay!

I have a IV and I am totally happy with it. I get great tone out of it, loud or soft, dirty or clean. I'm thinking about getting another one, either a III or V.

I gotta agree with Favata5, go in and tweak the settings. I found the stock settings definitely need some work for my ear. Once you do you will be amazed at how good this amp sounds. I have several nice tube amps, and I don't plan on getting rid of any of them, or my pedals for that matter. But my Mustang IV is getting a lot of playing time since I got it 4 months ago.

A definite YAY for me.
I bought a Mustang II back in October of 2010, and have been completely happy with it. It sounds good, and is extremely fun to mess around with hooked up the Fuse software.
I have played live with it several times, and it sounded great and worked like a charm. All that for $200; what more can you ask for?
Oh, I am thinking of jumping up to get a Mustang IV for the extra flexibility and the better speakers.

Just looking back over the years Ive owned solid states starting with a Traynor Bloc 100, Fender Ultra Chorus,Fender Princeton Chorus,Fender frontman, Roland Mini, Vox ad30vt,Marshall vs265 r,and have tried Peavey vypers,Marshall MGs, Line 6 models, even an old Lab series,I had a Vox pathfinder 15r , pretty cool little amp! As far as tube amps go... Guild Thunder one reverb 1960s, 2 Gibsons ga5t 1965 and a 1966 Gibson rvt 20 minuteman, 2 Mesa combos a subway blues and a studio 22, A Big 60 watt all tube Peavey XXX, Fender deluxe Reverb RI, 1976 Fender Champ, mid 1970s Musicman 65 watt half tubes half soldi state!2 Old Alamo tube amps, a VHT special 6, Bugera classic 5, Carvin Vintage 16 and probably a few others I forgot. Anyway,Ive got a reasonably good idea of what an amp should sound like and most of the solid state amps I had back then were ok,not great! Most of the tube amps some were better than others, tended to be one sound. Some of the reverbs were better than others, some were just for cleans, some did dirty thats all. In a nutshell,I laughed and said to my self when these amps" Mustang series" came out that people would be suckers to fall for them.In my narrow mind I couldnt believe all the hype and figured people just didnt know any better and that this is just another POS modeling amp and will just go away fast! I hate to admit it in a way,but I never would have thought this amp would pull me in and make me want to play more again and get the spark back, but I gotta feeling I have a new addiction that I wont have to see a Doctor for or talk to a Shrink! This is a good disease!!!Im standing up ,My name is Dan,I have an addiction.....:)

YAY!

I've had a Mustang II for quite a while now and not too long ago bought a complete Mustang V setup - just had to have that bad boy, too. I've gigged lightly with the II, but haven't hauled the V anywhere yet - haven't played any place big enough for it. I love 'em both! BTW - no fizz here in my Music Room.

YAY

This is just what I needed. I'm not in a band nor do I play professionally. I play in the comfort of my spare root covering lots of tunes across genres for R&B, Reggae, Pop, 70-80 Rock. To get close to the original sounds I need a wide variety of amps and effects on tap. That's not realistic in my case.

I owned a BIG Roland JC-120 for years, but never really played it because it was so huge and loud. Once I tried the Mustang III I was convinced decided, out with the old and in with the new. I got rid of some pedals too.

Now I can adjust the presets to dial in a reasonable approximations of the original recordings with a smaller amp, more than enough power. Fewer moving parts.
Tons of effects and models to go around.

YAY
I have the MIII and after learning how to tweak this puppy, I'm stoked. I'm now thinking of trying the V head through my Egnater 1 x 12 cabs. Has anyone tried the V through a pair of 1 x 12 cabs??
