Hi,

Just got my first Mustang II amp & telecaster.

Some beginners questions:
Q1) What preset is good for what music? 57 Deluxe, British 60s, Super-sonic, etc etc...I mean if I want to play funk, which is the correct preset? which one for blues, and so forth

Q2) If I am playing on 57 Deluxe and I suddenly change to any other Preset, like for eg British 60, do I need to play with volume and the other controls to set it up again? So lets say I am playing on 57 deluxe, I then switch to another preset and the amp seems noisier then before, almost like a hum in the amp...do I have to retune the amp everytime I change a preset?

Q3) Is there a place I can download the amp configuration to play certain styles of music? Something that will say: If you wanna play blues, switch volume to x, gain to y, bass to z and use the following preset?

thank you and Merry Xmas everyone !

Bands use 57 Deluxe, British 60s, Super-sonic, etc .. for all different types of music, blues, funk, etc... you can talylor the sound of any AMP just about to suit your style..but I'd start with Super Sonic for you.

Q2) If I am playing on 57 Deluxe and I suddenly change to any other Preset, like for eg British 60, do I need to play with volume and the other controls to set it up again? Yes. But if you want to save the previous settings you can always do so by pressing the flashing RED button. Think of it like having 12 differen't AMPs inside your Mustang and the only control is the Volume..all other controls are actually moving while you go thru each AMP model.

Q3) Is there a place I can download the amp configuration to play certain styles of music? Something that will say: If you wanna play blues, switch volume to x, gain to y, bass to z and use the following preset?

Definitely is.. http://fuse.fender.com Its all on the CD included with your AMP.

thank you and Merry Xmas everyone !

You too. Happy Holiday's

OK, so let me get this right - the Presets are actually other amps inside my amp? So its like many 'virtual' amps inside the one physical amp.

As the preset knob turns I get different colors red, green, amber - are any of these pre-programmed ?

or are all the preset colors open and have to be set up manually by me?

If they have to be set up manually (by a total beginner) - does the Fuse software have default templates per Preset 'virtual' amp? As there is probably no way I can figure it out manually...

Merry Christmas!
To answer some of your questions -
1. What presets for what music?

That's up to you, of course, but I would think the Fender amp sounds lend themselves to everything but metal and harder rock. Try the British 80's, American 90's, SuperSonic and Metal 2000 tones for the harder stuff.

2. Switching from one preset to another, differences? -
If the preset you switch to has the gain settings pushed up, or the volume, then you will hear that when change to a different preset. For example, I have a "jazz champ" preset that I setup on my amp. When I change to one of the settings using the American 90's setting (like a Mesa Triple Rectifier), it's louder. You can change the volume settings to match just by changing the settings with the knobs, and hitting "Save".

3. Place to download presets?
Yes, the Fuse community online. Lot's of great presets already posted, both from Fender and from users all over. The "jazz champ" setting I mentioned was something posted by another user. That's what makes this amp so much fun to mess with, and so versatile. It's like getting 24 different sounding amps in one.

Colors red, green, amber for presets -
The amber presets are set by Fender - if you change the knobs when you are using one of the amber settings, and hit "Save" it won't change the amber preset - it saves it to either the red or green bank for that amp, whichever you like.
When using the Fuse software, you can save anything anywhere in the red or green banks - only the amber stays the same. I'm not a fan of the British 60's sounds very much, so I've overwritten those settings with sound using other amp models, like Princeton Reverb.
Oh, that's another thing - the Fuse software has more amp models than come originally on the amp itself - Princeton, Champ, and I think one other are available in the software.
Have a great time working with your amp - I love mine.

Yes, exactly. Pretty cool eh. Its like saving $12,000 :)

Yes, there all Factory presets.

or are all the preset colors open and have to be set up manually by me?

The red and green are open.. meaning you can SAVE over top of the Factory presets
at any time. Yellow can only be SAVE to within Fuse... and at the pres of a Button you
can always reset back to Factory defaults...so dont be scared to save.

Yes, theres hundreds you can download from the Fuse software... Fender has many
more uploaded into Fuse Software.. as well as the community (us ppl) who've contributed
100's as well.

Dont be afraid ..Pro or Beginner ..just have fun
