I have only played acoustic. Now my wife bought me a Telecaster (MIM) and a Mustang II for xmas. She wants me to be Brad Paisley I think. There are so many options, I am overwhelmed. I figure that if I can set the thing to sound like an acoustic, I will know where I am. Where do all the switches need to be to get the cleanest possible sound so that I can start from there?

Start from the '65 Twin model and keep your GAIN low.

Cool lol ...Well, congratulations! Your wife did you something real nice. Your first AMP and guitar are without a doubt the perfect gear for 2011 :)

Not sure if this is easier or harder than using Fuse ...but...for beginner it might seem easier and I`m mostly guessing here.

i. Plug in and turn the mustang ON
ii. Turn the PRESET knob to (F) 65 Twin Reverb
ii. Turn the MOD knob UP one notch then OFF
iii. Turn the DLY-REV knob UP one notch then OFF

You should have a dry clean tone now without effects and reverb...Now you can play around with the GAIN - Volume - Treble - Bass - Master (volume), to get it even cleaner for acoustic

If this seem like to much.. Install the Fender CD - Open Fuse - Download the Acoustic
Preset from the (Media Library) ...A community member`s already created one just for you. I`m pretty sure there`s some Paisley presets as well ...so you can Paisley your wife
thru-out the holiday`s. :D Enjoy, and welcome to the community!

These people dont know what theyre saying, turn the gain all the way up, same for bass and treble, turn master down and put it on 65 Reverb and start playing as fast as possible for good Brad Paisley tone

"cleanest possible sound"

Not gonna get that with the Gain turned up. Keep it down.
