hey whats up everyone, I just recently bought a Fender Mustang ll amp and I have a question for anyone that can help. So this is what happens I plug in the amp turn it on its quiet then I connect the cable to the amp but not the guitar and a humming sound comes out the amp. Its only noticeable when the amp is on and idle. as soon as I start playing I cant even notice it. someone I spoke to suggested it might be the guitar, that it might have been single coiled. So I just plugged the cable minus the guitar and it was still there. would I need to get a special cable? cause I think the cable I bought is fairly decent it cost me about 15 bucks.Other suggestion was that if it was connected to a power source with other electronics that could have caused the noise. so I connected it somewhere else and it wasnt that. Another suggestion was to tirn on the compresor, but nowhere on the amp do I see a compressor dial. can someone tell me if this sound is normal or what could be the possible cause for it. I wanted to know because I did not buy a warranty , but if I need to take it back to the store I have less than 30 days and time os running out. thanx in advance.

If your cable is not plugged into your guitar and only into the amp and the other end of the cable is exposed, you will get that humming noise all the time. Plug your cable into your guitar first, then into your amp. Make sure your amp is off first though. Your amp and cable are probably just fine. Hooking up your gear—guitars, cables and your effects, should be done first and turned on before turning your amp on.

HI

yes that is normal to hear hum without cable plugged into amp, but as already mentioned above...... plug your guitar cable into your amp first before you switch on the Mustang.Regarding not seeing a Compressor switch on the amp there is none, you have to enter into FUSE and use the edits there then Save your preset.

#1 I make it a habit to never unplug or plug in a guitar with the volume not set at 0.
#2 Look up your nearest service center. Your amp has a 5 year warranty. You may have to deal with a different store for warranty issues but that 30 day crap is just there return policy. I try to deal with store that are service centers or have a good relationship to one. Some stores may try to have someone else work on it thus voiding your warranty.

Depending how loud the volume is on the AMP... if the AMPS turned up LOUD... its normal..but w/ the volume is OFF...you shouldn't really hear nothing ...less ur ears are extra sensitive like a dog in the woods :) or if ur guitar isin't properly grounded, you'll always hear a buzz/hum...again depends on what AMO setting ..some high-gain always
have it ..till like u say . "u strum".

Record the sound and upload it ......... lol or I find the best cables to use are good
double insulated ones, to reduce hum....but for true clean-thru guitar sound .. I love
the Planet Waves Classic 5 foot cable. Planet Waves Custom w/ Gold ends is OK too.
I have some really expensive cables that are garbage to me ..they kill my sound completly but Planet Waves rocks in clean true instrument sound. There cheap on eBay
5 bucks ...but dont let the price fool you.
